2 Getting to Know your Label Maker Become familiar with th e features shown in the following figure. Figure 1 Cleaning to ol Label e xit slot Cutter Battery compartment Label compartment Side cover Po.
3 Inserting the Battery Pack The label maker is po wered using a rech argeable lithium- ion polymer (LiPo) battery pa ck. Make sure t he USB cable is disc onnected be fore handlin g the LiPo battery pack . To insert the battery pac k 1 Press and pull t o open th e side cover of the label ma ker.
4 Inserting the Label Cassette Your label maker uses DYMO D1 label cassettes. To insert t he label cassette 1 Press and pull t o open the side cover o f the labe l maker. 2 Make sure th e tape and r ibbon are taut acro ss the mouth of the cassette and that the tape passes between the label guides.
5 Connecting the Label Maker to your Computer The label maker c onnects to your co mputer through the USB connection located on the back of the labe l maker. To connect the labe l maker to your co mputer 1 Plug one end of the USB cable into the lab el maker.
6 Printing Labels with the Built-In Software The following figur e shows some of the featur es available in the softwar e. To print your first label 1 Click once on t he label in the Edit area and t ype some text . 2 Click to print the label. To capture and inse rt an image from your desktop 1 Click on the toolbar.
7 Checking the Label Maker Status The label m aker status is d isplayed in the so ftware windo w. The followi ng table describes the possible states o f the label ma ker. See Figure 6 on page 6 . Charging the Battery Pack You can charg e the batte ry pack by connecting th e label mak er to either t he computer or the wall adapter.
8 To charge the batt ery using the wall ad apter 1 Insert one end of the USB cable into the lab el maker. 2 Insert the oth er end of th e USB cable int o the wall charger.
9 To configure the prin ter on your wireless netw ork 1 From within the built-in software, cl ick . The Wireless Setup tool starts. 2 Follow the s teps in the Wirele ss Setup tool. The wireless status light loca ted on the top of the lab el maker turns solid blue wh en the label maker is successfully connec ted to a wireless network.
10 6 Do one of the following: • If this is the first DYMO label prin ter installed on the computer, click Yes when prompted by the software to add the label maker as a wirele ss printer. • If a DYMO label printer is already installed on the compu ter, choose Add Network Printer from the File menu.
