2 Become familiar with th e printer’s major comp onents. See Figure 2. LabelWri ter Print er Feature s Your LabelWr iter printer is a direc t thermal printer and do es not use ink or toner. Inst ead, the printer uses heat from a ther mal print he ad to print on specia lly treated labe ls.
3 Installing as a Serial ASCII Printer (Windows) 1 Plug the end of t he serial cab le with the RJ 11 connecto r into the serial port on the bottom of th e printer. See Figure 3. 2 Connect the 9-p in serial connect or to an ava ilable serial port on you r computer or device, as appro priate.
4 Installing as a USB Connected Printer The LabelWr iter SE450 p rinter includes DYMO Label v. 8 label print ing software . You can c hoose to install the DYMO Label v.8 software or only the LabelWriter SE4 50 printer d rivers depending on how you plan to u se the print er.
5 3 Do one of the following: • For Windows: Click Install and follow the instructions in the installer. • For Mac OS: Double-click the Installer icon and follow the instructions. 4 When prompted , connect the printe r to your computer . See “Connectin g the Printer”.
6 Loading Labels Important! In order for the la bels to feed properly during print ing, the labels must be loade d with the left edge of the label inse rted again st the left edg e of the lab el feed slot. See Figure 8. To load a label roll 1 Press the form -feed butto n to eject the labels that protected t he printer du ring shipme nt.
7 6 Insert the label spool into the slot in t he printer cover with the labels extending fro m undern eath the roll. See Figure 7. 7 Align the left e dge of th e label with the left edge o f the label feed slot and insert the label into the slot. The printer a utomatically feeds the label, stopping at the beginning of the fir s t label.

The information that you get Dymo SE450 will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
If you already are a holder of Dymo SE450, but have not read the manual yet, you should do it for the reasons described above. You will learn then if you properly used the available features, and whether you have not made any mistakes, which can shorten the lifetime Dymo SE450.
