1 For complet e information abou t your label printer, you can view the LabelWriter Printer User Guide from the DYM O Label v.8 Help menu or from th e DYMO Web site at www.dymo.co m. Follow these steps to install the LabelWriter printer a nd print your first la bel.
2 Become familiar w ith the printer’s major component s. See Figure 2. LabelWri ter Printer Fe atures Your LabelWr iter printer is a direct thermal printer and do es not use ink or toner. Instea d, the printer uses heat from a ther mal print head to print o n specially treated la bels.
3 2. Installing the Software Do not conne ct the printe r to your compu ter until after the software installation is complete. Windows Depending on y our system configuratio n, the software installation could take some time wh ile the requir ed Microsoft .
4 3. Connecting your LabelWriter Printer NOTE Do not connect t he printer to yo ur computer un til after the software installati on is complete. To connect the pow er 1 Plug the powe r cord into the po wer adapter. See Figure 3. 2 Plug the powe r adapter into the power con nector on the back of the printer.
5 4. Loading Labels The LabelWr iter Duo printer prints two typ es of labels: di e-cut paper la bels (such as Addr ess or Shipping labels) and D1 label cassettes.
6 5 Slide the spo ol guide onto the r ight side of th e spool and press t he guide tigh tly against the side of the label roll, leaving no gap between the roll and the spool. See Figure 6. NOTE To ensure prop er feeding of labels during printing, the label roll must fit snugly agains t both sides of the label spool, with no gap s.
7 To load a label cassette 1 Press the butto n on the front of the printer to open the label cassette tray. NOTE The first time you use the printer, remo ve the protective cardboard inse rt from the la bel exit slot.
8 5. Printing your First Label The first ti me you open the applicat ion, you are asked to register the software. Registering the software ensures th at you wi ll be informed of any software updat es. During the regist ration process, you will be asked to en ter the serial number for your label pr inter.

11 Printing Postage with DYMO Stamps You can no w print postage right from your desktop using your LabelWriter Duo label pr inter. All you need is DYMO Stamp s software, your LabelWrite r printer, DYMO Stamps labels, and an Internet conn ection. To install DYMO Stamps and print postage 1 Sign up for your USPS acco unt with Endicia.
12 3 Enter your account numbe r and pass p hrase, and th en click OK . 4 Click Buy Postage and purchase po stage for your acco unt. 5 Select DYMO LabelW riter 450 Duo La bel from the Printer list under Printer Selection. 6 Click Test Print to print a voided postage l abel.
