1 1 Introduction The Powerline Adapter (also cal led “the device” he reinafter) is a low po wer consumption PL C device developed based on the master chip of I NT6400. It can transmit the net work data in the power line. The device i s compatible with the latest requirements of the EUP Directive.
2 2 Saf e ty Pr ecautions This device is used for to connect to the AC po wer line. Before us ing the device, rea d the instructions carefully, in ord er to use the device correctly a nd safely. For the installation instructions, re fer to the installation sec tion of this guide.
3 3 Adapt er 3.1 Ethernet Interface Use one end of a network cable to connect the Ethern et interface. Use the oth er end of the cable to con nect the Ethernet inte rface of the compute r or another Ethernet-enable d network de vice. 3.2 Buttons Figur e 1 Side panel of the dev ice Reset: Restore the factory def aults.

6 4 Utility Insta llation Note: Before installing the PLC utility sof t ware, make sure that there is no any other power line utility installed on your computer . If there is another u tility installed, please uninstall it and restart your computer. Follow the steps below to install the utilit y.

9 5 How to Use the Utility 5.1 Main T ab The Main screen provides a list of all power line devices logic ally connected to the computer when the utility is running. The top panel s hows local HomePlug device s connected to the netwo rk interface card (NIC) of the computer.
10 Device Name This column shows the default device name, w hich may be modifi ed. To change the name, click Rename or click the name and ed it it in the list. MAC Address This column shows the MAC addr esses of the remote devices. Password By default, this column is blank.
11 Step3 Click OK to veri fy the passwo rd. The passw ord field accepts the device password in any case formats, with or without das h. A confirmation box appe ars if the password is entered cor rectly. If a device is not found, a messag e appears, pro viding suggestions to so lve the common problem s.
12 Scan This button is used to perform an i mmediate search for Hom ePlug devices conne cted to the Power line network. By default, th e utility automaticall y scans every a few seconds and updates the d isplayed informatio n.
13 Set Local Device Only This button is used to chan ge the network name and pas sword of th e local device. If a new network p assword is entere d, all the device s appeared in th e Main panel pri or.
14 Figure 10 Diagnostics tab The Lower panel displays the his tory of all remote de vices appeared on th e computer over a certa in period of time. All the device s and the parameters of th e devices on the power line netwo rk are listed. Devic es that are active on the curren t logical network show a transfer rate in the rate column.
15 The diagnostic s information displayed ca n be save d to a text file for later use, or be printed for refere nce for a technical support call. Click delete to delete the devices which are no lon ger part of the ne twork. A dial og window pops up w ith a confirma tion message if the u ser wants to delete a devic e whose password has been entered.
16 6 How to Use the Securi ty Pushbutton This section de scribes how to add new devi ces or remove o ld devices fro m a HomePlug AV logica l network (AVLN) by using a Security (called N MK) pushbutton. Power LED statu s indicates the operation progress and result.
17 6.2 Joining a Network In this scenario a network exists, a new device, the ‘j oiner’, wants to join the network. Any device on th e existing network can b ecome the ‘adder’. Step1 Press the pushbutton o n the ‘joiner’ for at least 3 seconds.
18 6.3 Leaving a Network A network exists. T he user wants to remove one device, the ‘lea ver’, from that network. The user wan ts to remove the device from se rvice altogether or have it join another logical netwo rk. Step1 Press the pushbutton on the ‘leaver’ for at least 1 0 seconds.

21 Appendix C About QoS PLC 200AV allows 4 levels of Channel Access Priori ty (CAP (0 – 3)). The 8 levels of VLAN Ethernet t ags must be mapped to the 4 leve ls of CAP priority, where CAP 3 is the highest prior ity and CAP 0 i s the lowest. CAP 3 priority is used for voice and network manage ment frames.
