Introduction 7 d e v o l o d L A N 5 0 0 AVmini 2I n t r o d u c t i o n dLAN is an intelligent, secure technology that lets you set up a home network easily, quickly and economical- ly via your household electrical wiring, without the need for complex and expensive dedicated cabling.
8 Introduction devolo dLAN 500 AVmini 2.1 What exactly is dLAN? dLAN ( d irect L ocal A rea N etwork) uses the household power grid to transfer data between computers equip- ped with suitable adapters and other network compon- ents. As a result, any power outlet can be used as a network access point.

It will explain connecting the dLAN 500 A Vmini and its functions. We will also briefly introduce the included devolo software and gui- de you through its installation.
14 Initial us e devolo dLAN 500 AVmini Please note that dLAN d evices such as the devolo dLAN duo (14 Mbps) and devolo dLAN Highspee d Ethernet II (85 Mbps) can be used on the same household electrical wiring as dLAN AV devices (200 Mbps/ 500 Mbps) without interferen ce, but they will not be able to communicate directly with one a nother.

24 dLAN network devolo dLAN 500 AVmini Encrypting a new dLAN 500 AVmini network con- sisting of two dLAN 500 AVmini adapters (fig 4) Once both dLAN 500 AVmini adapters have been suc- cessfully connected, press each encryption button for 1 second within two minutes of one another.

The device will be assigned a new ran- domly generated password and will thus no longer be able to access the network.
