7 Introduction devolo dLAN 200 AVmini 2.1 What exactly is dLAN? dLAN ( d irect L ocal A rea N etwork) uses the household power grid to transfer data between computers equip- ped with suitable adapters and other network compon- ents. As a result, any power outlet can be used as a network access point.

The dLAN 200 A Vmini offers a transfer rate of up to 200 Mbps which makes it ideal for high requirements, such as HDTV streaming, Internet telep hony and fast Internet.

13 Initial us e devolo dLAN 200 AVmini 3.4.1 Firmware update If you wo uld like to combine a dLAN 200 AVmini with older devolo dLAN 200 AV devices in a network, please update the firmware of th e dLAN 200 AV devices first. Connect each dLAN 200 AV devi ce to the com- puter and insert the included CD- ROM into your CD drive .

The following sect ion describes data encryp- tion options—either using the encryption button or the dLAN Configuration Wizard.
