GETTING STARTED 1 5 GETTING STARTED WA R N I N G • Do not place your V oxtel Smart 3 in the bathroom or other humid areas. • Do not place your V oxtel Smart 3 near so urces of heat and extreme temperatures, such as fluorescent lighting , microwave ovens, heating appliances and direct sunlight.
GETTING STARTED 2 5.4 Battery low warning If the following appears on the display , you will need to charge the handset. 5.4.1 Battery performance Note that a new battery will not reach full capacity until it has been discharged and charged in normal use fo r several days.
GETTING STARTED 3 5.6 Connecting the power cable and telephone line cord 1 Plug one end of the power cable and te lephone line cord to the power jack and phone jack respectively on th e bottom of the base station. 2 Plug the other e nd into a pow er and telephon e wall socket.
GETTING STARTED 4 5.8 Inst alling the battery p ack 1 Place the supplied rechargeabl e battery pack into the battery compartment, and slide the battery down into the recess, as shown. 2 Install the back cover by aligning the back cover tabs with the notches located at the top of the back panel.

Use only the rechargeable ba ttery that is provided with your V oxtel Smart 3. 5.10 Inserting and mounting a memory card The V oxtel Smart 3 supports micro SD cards, of up to 32GB.. Y ou can store music, pictures, files and app lications on a me mory card and access them on your V oxtel Smart 3.
GETTING STARTED 6 5.12 Switching on your V oxtel Smart 3 Press and hold L on the side panel of the handset until the LCD screen starts to display the Android logo. - It takes about 1 minute for the phone to power up completely . - The home screen is displayed.
GETTING STARTED 7 5.16 W ake up the phone The LCD screen dims to conserve battery when you don’t use it for a while. 1 Press any key to turn on the screen.
GETTING STARTED 8 5.18 Screen Rot ation The V oxtel Smart 3 has a tilt/ori entation sensor , which detects if you are holding it in Portrait or Landscape mode. The screen will be adju sted accordingly . Ti p Automatic screen rotation is enabled by default.

DECT Settings 19 8 DECT Settings 8.1 Handset Settings Handset settings allows you to view and mo dify the settings of your handset. 8.1.1 Registering your V oxtel Smart 3 to the base st ation Y our V oxtel Smart 3 handset has been pre-registered to the Base station by factory default.
DECT Settings 20 6 Ta p o n Enter Pin box to launch the onscreen keyboard. 7 Enter the PIN code of the base station and tap Register . - If successful, “Success” is displayed. Note If the PIN of the base station is set as "0000" (default), the V oxtel Smart 3 will register to the base station without prompting for the PIN.
Voicemail 21 9 Voicemail If you have access to a voicemail service on your telephone line, you can pro gram it s number into the V oxtel Smart 3 to make it easier to call when you want to listen to any messages.

Using the Phon e Functions 25 10.14 Caller ID Directory Matching If you have subscribed to Caller ID and the caller' s number matches the teleph one number you have stored in your Contact s list, it will display the name of th e Contact as well as the telephone numb er when it is received and when you review the Ca ll Log.
Using the Answe r Machine 26 11 Using the Answer Machine Y our V oxtel Smart 3 comes with a Digital Answer Machine that is switched on by default to enable callers to leave you a message when you are not available to answer the call.
Using the Answer Machine 27 1 1.3 Set Number of Rings Y ou can customise the number of times (2 to 9 times) the phone will ring before the Digital Answer Machine answers the call and ca llers are greeted with the outgoing messag e.
Using the Answe r Machine 28 Y ou can choose to pla yback the messages through the handset earpi ece or speaker . 1 During message playba ck, tap H . 2 Select Handset or Speaker playback. 1 1.6 Delete recorded messages 1 Ta p > Answering Mach ine .
Using the Answer Machine 29 1 1.8 Outgoing Message Setting External callers are greeted with an out going message when th e call is answered by the Digital Answer Machine. The Digital Answer Machine has pre-recorded defa ult messages for this purpose.
Using the Answe r Machine 30 3 Choose to play the personali sed message for Answer & Record or Answer Only . 4 While the messag e is playing , tap Delete OGM to delete the personalise d outgoing message and return it to the default OGM. Note The default outgoing messages cannot be deleted.
Contacts Li st 31 12 Contacts List The Contact s list is like a Phonebook tha t stores the name, telephone numbers and other informa tion of your contacts. 12.1 Open Cont act s list From the ho me screen, pre ss C and tap Contacts tab . 12.2 Search for a cont act in Cont act s list 1 From the ho me screen, pre ss C and tap Contacts .

Internet Function 36 13 Internet Function Before you can surf the Internet, send and receive emails, listen to Internet radio broadcasts, check weather , sto ck prices, etc.
Internet Function 37 Note The connection spee d is dependent on t he capability of the Wi-Fi network. Once you have joined a Wi-Fi network manually , the V oxtel Smart 3 will automatically connect to it whenever the network is in ra nge. If more than o ne previously used netwo rk is in range, the V oxtel Smart 3 will join the one last used.
Internet Function 38 13.4 Check V o xtel Smart 3 MAC Address For secured Wi-Fi netwo rks with MAC address filte ring, you will n eed to include the MAC address of your V oxtel Smart 3 into the filter list before a connection can be established. T o check the MAC address of your V oxtel Smart 3: 1 Press H .
Using the Web Bro wser 39 14 Using the Web Browser YOU MUST JOIN A WI-FI NETWORK THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE INTER NET BEFORE YOU CAN SURF THE WEB VIA THE BROWSER APPLICATION. SEE PAGE 36 ON HOW TO JOIN A WI-FI NETWORK. Y ou can use the Browser to surf the web.
Using the Web Browser 40 14.6 Zoom in and out of a webp age When viewing a webpage, double t ap on the screen to zoom in and out, or launch th e zoom control by sliding your finger across the screen in on e direction and tap + to zoom in and - to zoom out.

In the Browser window , press H , and then tap More > Settings to modify the browser settings according to your preference.
Email 43 15 Email YOU MUST JOIN A WI-FI NETWORK THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE INTER NET BEFORE YOU CAN SETUP, SEND AND RECEIVE EMAILS. SEE PAGE 36 ON HOW TO JOIN A WI-FI NETWORK. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SET THE CORRECT DATE AND TIME INFORMATION BEFORE YOU SET UP YOUR FIRST EMAIL ACCOUNT AND START TO ACCESS YOUR EMAILS.
Email 44 6 Enter the Account name (optional) an d tap Done . 7 Enter Your name (optional) to be displayed on outgoing messages, and then tap Done . - The email applicatio n will start to load your messag es. It might take a fe w minutes fo r the messages to load completely .

Email 46 15.8 Open an att ached file Y ou can open and view some types of files and images attached to messages you receive. T ap the attachment. It downloads to the V oxtel Smart 3 and then opens. If the format of an attached file is not supported by the V oxtel Smart 3, you can see the name of the file but you can't open it.

The Stock reader shows up dated quotes for the stocks in your portfolio list. Quotes are updated every time you open the Stock reader while connected to the In ternet.

HELP 76 32 HELP My V oxtel Smart 3 does not turn on. • Make sure the power adapter is securely connected • Make sure you are using the power adapter that was included with your V oxtel Sma rt 3. • Make sure the V oxtel Smart 3 is turned on. My V oxtel Smart 3 d oes not recognise the memo ry card.
HELP 77 I cannot register my V oxtel Smart 3 to the base station T ry resetting the base station. Y o u can do this by: • Holding the Page button on the base station for about 9 seconds until the T alk/Message LED blinks. • Release the Page button a nd press it again immediately .
HELP 78 If the handset disconnects from the base during a ph one call • Check that the p ower adapter is con nected properly into the electrical outlet. • Y ou may have moved out of range of the base.
