Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 3 Getting S t arted The 6755i mu st be set up and be configu red prio r to its first use. This section describes phone behavior and start up screen s you may see when the phone is first plu g ged in, or when it is restarted.
4 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide The 6755i phone then checks settin gs and looks for new configura tion and firmware updates for the phone from a server . If a new update is found, the phone displays the message “ Updating Configuration ”. This may take a few moments while th e phone downloads the latest updates.

6 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Network Connected/Network Disconnected If your phone is successful when connecting to the network the following screen displays before changing to the Idle screen.
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 7 Idle Screen When the phone has successfully updated the co nfiguration and connecte d to the network, the phone displays the Idle S tate screen. The idle screen is shown wh enever your phone is not in use. The Idle S tate screen lists your name (SIP screen name) and day , date, and time.

12 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Key Descriptions The following table id entifies the keys on the key panel of your 6755i IP phone that you can use for handling calls. T ext Key s Symbol Keys Key Description Goodbye key - Ends an active ca ll. The Goodbye key also exits an open list, such as the Options List, without saving changes.

16 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Methods for Customizing Y our Phone There are two ways to customize specific options on your phone: • Using the Options key on the IP Phone • Using the Aastra W eb UI in an Internet browser window fro m your PC.
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 17 Simplified Options Menu Y our System Administrator may configure a simplified options menu for your phone. The following table indicates the options that may appe ar on your phone if the simpli fied options menu is applied.

24 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Finding Y our Phone’ s IP Address If you want to access your phone’ s options using an Internet browser , you need to enter the IP address of the phone in the brow ser to open the Aastra W eb UI. Use the following proce dure to find your phone’ s IP address.

32 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Backlight The " Backlight " option on the IP phone allows you to set the backlight status on the LCD display to the following: • Off - Backlight is always OFF .
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 33 7. If you selected " Auto ", press the Advanced softkey . 8. Using the keypad, enter the amount of seconds you want the phone to stay backlit when the phone is idle. V alid values are 1 to 120 seconds (2 minutes).
34 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Live Dialp ad* The " Live Dialpad " option on the IP phone tu rns the Live Dial Pad mode ON or OFF . W ith live dial pad ON, the 6755i IP phone automatically di als out and turns ON Handsfree mode as soon as a dial pad key or softkey is pressed.
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 35 Set Audio The " Set Audio " option on the IP P hone allows you to set the audio mode for your IP phone. It also allows you to set the volume level of the headset microphone. Y ou can set Audio on your IP phone using the IP Phone UI only .
36 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Headset Mic V olume The " Headset Mic V olume " option allows you to set the vol ume level for the headset microphone. Setting Audio Mode and He adset Mic V olume 1. Press on the phone to enter the Options List.

When you set the language to use, all of the display screens (menus, services, options, configura tion parameters, etc.

50 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Portuguese Russian Configuring Language Input Us ing the IP Phone UI Y ou can configure the language you use for inputting on the phone by setting the Inp ut Language option. The default input lang uage setting is English.

Select Prefer ences . 3. Select Language .Select Input Languag e . Select the language you want to use when inputting text and characters into the IP Phone UI.

Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 53 Latin 2 Character Set The 6755i includes support for ISO 8859-2 (Latin 2) of multi-national lan guages when displaying and inputing in t he IP Phone UI and the Aastra W eb UI. UTF-8 is also compatible with XML encoding on the IP Phones.
54 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide User Password This category allows you to change the user password for your phone. Ch anging your password ensures that only you can alter your phone settings, an d helps keep your system secure. Y ou can change your user password using the IP Phone UI or the Aastra W eb UI.
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 55 1. Click on Operation->User Password . 2. In the " Current Password " field, enter the current user password. 3. In the " New Password " field, enter the new user password. 4. In the " Password Confirm " field, enter the new user password again.
56 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Resetting a User Password If you forget your password, you can reset it a n d enter a new password. The reset user pa ssword feature resets the password to the fact ory default wh ich is blank (no password). Y ou can reset a user password using the Aastra W e b UI only .
Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 57 Rest arting your phone Y ou may want to restart your phon e to check for updates on the server . Y ou may occasionally need to restart your phone to set changes or updates to your phone or network settings.
58 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Phone Lock Y ou can lock your phone to prevent the phone fro m being used or configured. Y ou can lock the phone using any of the followin g : • At the path Options->Phone L ock on the IP Phone UI. • At the path Operations->Phone Lock on the Aastra W eb UI.

Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide 69 Line Key Y ou can set a programmable key or softkey to act as a line/ca ll appearance key on the 6755i. The This key acts as a line that beha ves the same as a hard line key (L1, L2, L3, and L4). For more information about the beha vior of line keys, see “Multiple Line an d Call Appearances” on page 62 .
70 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide This means that when all line/call appearances ar e in use, 1 call is connected while the rest are on hold. No further out going or incoming calls can be made until one of the line/call appearances becomes available.

92 Model 6755i IP Phone User Guide Automatic Call Distri bution (ACD) Key (for Sylantro Servers) The 6755i and a ny attached Expansio n Modules support Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) for Sylantro servers. The ACD feature al lows the Sylantro serv er to distribute calls from a queue to registered IP phone users (agents).
