4 About this manual... This manual e xplains how to establish a wireless LAN connection between a CASIO Data Projector and a computer , and send computer sc reen shots to the projector f or projection.
5 Minim um System Requirements Y ou need to install Wireless Connection 2 on your computer in order to send shots of y our computer screen to and project them with the projector ov er a wireless connection . The follo wing is the minimum operating en vironment for Wireless Connection 2.
6 P erforming a Pres entation using a Wirele ss LAN (Projec ting Computer Screen Contents Over a Wireless LAN) Wireless LAN lets you estab lish a connecti on between the Data Projector and a computer without using a cable, and project the computer ’ s display contents with the Data Projector.
7 Note the follo wing precautions when tryin g to establish a wireless LAN connection between the XJ-S35/YP-100 and a co mputer . z The XJ-S35/YP-100 comes with Wireless Connecti on, which is a previous version of the wireless connection software .
8 T o establish a wireless LAN connection between a computer and the Data Projector , Wireless Connection 2 must be running on the computer . T o start up Wireless Connection 2 P erform either of the f ollowing operations to start up Wireless Connection 2 on the computer .
9 The follo wing procedure uses the preset Simple Connection 1 connection profile to establish a wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and a single computer for the first time. T o establish a wireless LAN connection between a single computer and the Data Projector 1 T urn on the Da ta Projector .
10 5 W ait until the “Connect” dialog box like the one shown below appear s. z If your computer is r unning Windows Vista and t he “Set Net work Locati on” dialog box appears, click [Cance l] to close it. z The above dialog box will close when t he computer fi nds the Data Projector.
11 First Wireless LAN Connection between the Data Pr ojector and Four Computers The f ollowing procedure uses the initial default settings of the Manual Connection 1 connection profile to establish wireless LA N connections between the Da ta Projector and four computers f or the first time.
12 T o establish a wireless LAN connection with Manual Connection 1 between the first computer and the Data Pr ojector 1 On your computer , start up Wireless C onnection 2. z If you r computer is running Wi ndows Vista, s tar ting up Wireless Con nection 2 will cause the “User Ac count Control” mess age to appear .
13 z When the comput er finds the Data Projector, a Connection di alog box like the one shown below will appear . z If your computer is r unning Windows Vista and t he “Set Net work Locati on” dialog box appears, click [Cance l] to close it.
14 8 On the Wireless Connection 2 window , clic k one of the projection area position buttons and then click the button. z This will ca use the conten ts of the co mputer scree n to be proj ected so they fill th e entire pro jection area.
15 T o establish a wireless LAN connection with Manual Connection 1 between the second and subsequent co mputers and the Da ta Projector 1 On the computer , start up Wireless Connection 2. z If you r computer is running Wi ndows Vista, s tar ting up Wireless Con nection 2 will cause the “User Ac count Control” mess age to appear .
16 6 Change the “IP Address” setting to “192 .168.50.12” and then clic k the [Register] button. Important! The Data Projector and each of the computers (1 to 4) that will be connecting to the Data Projector ov er the wireless LAN all must hav e diff erent IP addresses.
17 9 Move the highli ghting to the Data Pr ojector to wh ich y ou want to connect and then click the [OK] button. z The computer w ill connect with the Data Projector a nd then the Wireless Conn ection 2 window shown below will appear.
18 13 On the Data Projector’ s remote controller , press the [ ] key . z This will dis play the user list s creen, which shows thumbnails of the scre en contents of each connect ed computer.
19 Subsequent Wireless LAN C onnection between the Data Pr ojector and Four Computers Important! Y ou can use the f ollowing procedure when the f ollowing condition exists.

21 3 Enter the password and then clic k the [OK] button. z The initial de fault pa ssword is “casio”. z The abo ve step will d isplay the Web Se tup top page lik e the one sho wn below . Note z F or security re asons, be sure to change the password to something else as soon as possible .
22 T o change the W eb Setup logi n passw ord 1 On the initial Web Setup page , clic k the [Change Passwor d] button. z This will dis play the change password page.
23 Switching the Data Pr oj ector Connection Pr ofile The Data Projector uses one of its six connection pr ofiles to connect to a computer over a wireless LAN.
24 T o switch the Data Pr ojector connection pr ofile 1 On the Data Projector’ s remote controller , press the [ ] key . z This will ca use the connect ion profile menu to appear in t he project ion area. 2 Use the [ T ] and [ S ] keys to move the highlighting to the connection profile you want to select and then press the [ENTER ] key .
25 T o use W eb Setup to modify the Data Projector connection pr ofile from a computer Important! P erf or ming the procedure below will ter mi nate the current wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and computer .
26 Assigning a Name to a Data Projector Y ou can use W eb Setup to assign a unique name to each Data Projector , which comes in handy when you are using multiple projectors . The projector name you assign is displa yed in the f ollowing locations. • In the “Projector Name” bo x of the Wire less “Standing by f or connection.
27 Configuring a C onnection Ke ywor d A connection ke yword protects the Data Proj ector against unauthorized access when there are multiple computers connected over a wire less LAN using a manual connection profile.
28 T o turn connection keywor d input on or off on the Data Pr ojector 1 While Wireless is shown in the projectio n area, press the [MENU] key on the Data Projector’ s remote controller . z This will displa y the setup menu. 2 Press the [ T ] key to move the highlighting to “USB” and then press the [ENTER] key .
29 Modifying Data Projector Man ual Connection Settings The follo wing are example cases in which you ma y want to modify Data Projector manual connection settings.
30 Creating a Computer Connection Profile After you modify the settings of the Data Proj ector’ s manual setting profile, y ou will also need to modify the ex isting wireless LAN c onnection settings (connection prof ile) of the computer accordingly , or you will have to create a ne w connection profile.
31 2 Perf orm the procedure under “T o switch the Data Pr ojector connectio n profile” (page 24) to switch the Data Pr ojector connection profile to “Manual Connection 3”. z This will ca use the “Sta nding by for connection. .. ” screen to a ppear in the projectio n area.
32 6 After configuring all of the settings you want, c lick the [Register] button. 7 On the confirmation dialog box that appears, c lick the [OK] button. z This will re gister you r settings as a ne w connecti on profile and r etur n to the c onnection profile switching di alog box in step 1.
33 T o modify an e xisting computer connection profile 1 Display the Wireless Connection 2 window b y double-clic king the icon on your computer desktop, or select the following fr om the windows Start menu: [All Programs] - [CASIO] - [Wireless Connection 2].
34 Sending Settings fr om a Comp uter to the Data Projector Y ou can use the Send Settings function of Wire less Connection 2 to send the settings to the Data Projector . T o send connection profile settings from a computer to the Data Projector 1 Establish a wireless LAN connection between the computer a nd Data Projector .
35 6 Enter the password and then clic k the [OK] button. 7 Keep clic king the [OK] button on the dialog bo xes that appear . z Clicking the [OK] button in respon se to the “Overwr ite it?” m essage will cause the settings o f the computer to be se nt to the Data Projecto r .
36 Deleting a Computer Connection Profile Y ou can use the procedure in this section to delete computer connection profiles you created with Wireless Connection 2 when yo u no longer need them. Wireless Connection 2 can also be used to delete the def ault connect ion profiles (Manual Connection 1, 2, and 3).
37 Assigning a User Name to a Computer f or Projection User names make it possible to identify each computer when multiple computers are connected to the Data Projector at the same time. The user name assigned to a computer will appear in the projection area when the comp uter’ s screen contents are projected.
38 Selecting the Netw ork to Use for Wireless LAN Connection When connecting to the Data Projector with a computer that has m ultiple wireless LAN adapters, you can select a specific wireless LAN ada pter to be used for connection with the Data Projector .
39 “Connect to an existing netw ork” chec k box A “Connect to an existing netw ork” check box also will appear on the “Select Network” dialog box if y ou are running Wireless Connec tion 2 under Windows XP or 2000.
40 Manual Connection Setting Reference This section provides detail ed explanations of all of the manual connection settings. • See “T o modify Data Projector manual c onnection settings” (page 29) f or information about how to change Data Projec tor manual connection settings .
41 Note The initial default setting f or each item is indicated by an asterisk ( * ). Setting Name Description Profile Name This is a name assigned to identify each individual manual connection. Input up to 10 characters. SSID Wireless network ID name.
42 WEP K ey Fo r m a t Y ou only need to co nfigure this setting when “WEP” is selected f or “Security Setup”. Y ou can specify an y one of the f ollowing f ormats for input o f the WEP ke y .
43 Subnet Mask Configuration of th is setting is required when “Off ” is selected for “DHCP”. Enter a subnet mask v alue, which spe cifies the range of the IP address of the subnet to whi ch the Data Projector/comput er belongs. The subnet mask consists of f our values in the range of 0 to 255, separ ated by pe riods (such as 255.
44 Returning Data Projector Wire less Settings to Their Initial Defaults Y ou can return all Data Projector Wireless function settings to th eir initial defaults b y ex ecuting “Initialize Wireless Setup”. The follo wing are the Wireless initial default settings configured by this operation.
45 Viewing Wireless Connection 2 Help T o view Wireless Connection 2 help, select “Help” on the Wireless Connection 2 window “Help” men u. Viewing Wireless Connection 2 V ersion Info rmation T o view Wireless Connection 2 version information, select “About Wireless C onnection” on the Wireless Connection 2 window “Help” menu.
46 Whenev er you e xperience problems with the wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and the computer , check the follo wing points first. Chec k the follo wing on the computer . • Is a wireless LAN utility other than Wireless Connection 2 running? If so , shut down the other utility .
47 Y ou cannot es tablish a Manual Connecti on between the Da ta Projector and a single com puter or mu ltiple comput ers. Except for the IP address setting, all of the settings configured for the Data Projector and the computer(s) must match in order to e stablish a Manual Connection.
48 The wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and computer keeps drop ping. This can be caused by the f ollowing. • Data communication can slow do wn and the connection may tend to drop when the Data Projector and computer are far from eac h other (in diff erent rooms, on different floors, etc.

52 Operations while Multiple Computers are Connected to the Data Projector o ver a Wireless LAN While multiple computers are connected to the Data Projector o ver a wireless LAN, y ou can check which computer’ s screen contents currently are being projected, and y ou can switch projection between computer screens as required.
