6 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION The ov en timer offers you the follo wing features: 1. Time of Day 2. Automatic C ooking 3. Minute Minder A UT OMA TIC C OOKING The main ov en can be controlled automatically . GUIDANCE ON A UT OMA TIC C OOKING 1. Select foods which will take the same time to cook.
7 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION CL OCKF ACE The timer incorporates a 24 hour clock. Ensure the correct time of day is alw ays set, bef ore using your cooker. SYMBOLS A ‘bell’ symbol will light up when you select a Minute Minder Period and will remain lit for the period set.
8 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION SETTING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven controls ar e turned O ff . Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. Step 3 When switched on the display will show 0.00 and the A uto symbol , flashing intermittently .
9 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook Period button. The display will read 0.00 with the ‘ cookpot’ symbol lit. Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held in, set the required Coo k P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
10 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION Step 4 Press & hold in the C ook Period button, the display will r ead 0.00 and the ‘ cookpot ’ symbol will light up. With the Cook P eriod button still held in set the required Cook P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
11 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION O THER NOTES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. When cooking Automatically the Cook P er iod can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the C ook Period button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime by simply pr essing the End Time button.
The hotplate lid is fitted with a saf ety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotplat e burners.
13 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Nev er fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat . 2. Nev er leave oil or fat una ttended during the heating or cooli ng period. 3. Nev er heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan. 4. A lways dry food thoroughly before frying, and lo wer it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
14 GRILL AB C CA UTION – AC CESSIBLE P ARTS MA Y BEC OME HOT WHEN THE GRILL IS USE D. Y OUNG CHILDREN SHOULD BE KEPT A W A Y . The grill is fitted with a safety device that will cut off the gas supply t o the burner if the flame is extinguished for any reason.
Grilling can be star ted from cold but f or best results preheat for appro ximately two minutes. Most cooking is done with the heat on full, but it may be desirable to r educe it for thicker pieces of meat or f or keeping food warm. F or au gratin dishes eg.
The main ov en is fitted with a safety device that re-lights the burner if the flame has been extinguished for any reason and another saf ety device that reduces the gas flow to a safe lev el if , for any reason, the burner fails t o light.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything requiring long slow c ook ing such as casseroles and ric h fruit cakes can be put into a cold ov en. Satisfactor y results can also be obtained with creamed mixture, rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but for perfection we recommend preheating the o ven for about 15 minutes at the gas mark y ou require for cooking.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alt er the set- ting to give a result mor e to your satisfaction. When a different setting t o that shown below is given in a recipe , the recipe instruc tions should be followed .

The ‘Slow C ook ’ setting on the main oven thermostat is used for slow cooking, keeping food warm and warming plates f or shor t periods. USING THE ‘SL OW COOK’ SETTING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘Slow C ook ’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
The top ov en can be used to cook small quantities of food or us ed in c onjunction with the main oven t o provide additional cooking space. The top ov en is fitted with a safety device that will cut off the gas supply to the burner if the flame is extinguished for any reason.

Switch off the electricity supply and allow to c ool before cleaning the cooker . Clean the cooker r egularly and wipe up spills soon after they occur to prev ent them from becoming burnt on.
25 CARE AND CLEANING C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts, burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compartment Cloth wrung out in warm soapy water . Stubborn stains can be remov ed with a cream paste, liquid cleaner or by rubbing with fine steel wool soap pads.

Cannot set an “ Auto C ook ” programme or cannot get the timer to turn the ov en on or off at the required times. Read the Timer instructions in this book carefully remembering that the Cook period is the length of time that the timer will switch the ov en(s) on as par t of an Auto Cooking Programme .
Prior to installation, ensur e that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment conditions ar e compatible. The adjustment conditions for this appliance ar e stated on the data badge which is fitted on the back panel.

C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669. A length of 0.9 to 1.25m is recommended . The length of hose chosen should be such that when the cooker is in situ, the hose does not touch the floor .
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a properly ear thed, readily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly above , and no t more than 1.25m awa y from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such that it cannot t ouch hot par ts of the cooker i.
