3 D VD89 Follo w these simple steps t o successfully set up your player f or use in your system: Use the best available video connection If an HDMI or DVI connection is present on y our television or display , use it. The DVD89 pla yer has an HDMI (digital) video output which presents the highest possible resolutions and video quality .
4 Determine your displa y type For best performance, your D VD89 player must be correctly configured for pla yback even bef ore the fir st disc is inser ted.
5 D VD89 Connections for most CD or D VD playback If at all possible you will want t o connect audio using digital cables (either coaxial S / PDIF or optical S / PDIF).
6 Connections for non-Dolby Digital/DTS R eceivers, DVD-Audio and SACD Dolby Pro Logic receiv er s If you ha ve an older Dolby Pro Logic surr ound receiver that does not suppor t Dolby Digital or D TS.
7 D VD89 Setting up the play er: Advanced Setup menu options The follo wing is an advanced tour of the Setup Menu options which enables control o ver how your D VD player functions in various situations and with various program mat erial and hardware.
8 Speaker setup page 1. Down-mix Mode: This sets the audio down-mix mode to con ver t multi- channel audio into twochannel output. This setting only affects the “Mixed L / R” analogue audio outputs. The options are: • Left/Right - Left and Right channels only.

12 6. Parental Control: Sets parental contr ol ratings in order to prev ent minors from watching inappr opriate contents. This function requires that the disc being properly rat ed and encoded. • Press the SELECT button to bring up the rating selection menu.
