3 GENERAL This user guide describes in detail how to use, ma intain and inspe ct the chain sharpening machine. It also describe s the steps to be taken to ensure maximum safety , how the safety components are designed and how they work and how to check and inspect them .
4 SYMBOLS Before using the chain sharpening mach ine, read this user guide thoroughly and make sure that you have understood it all. W ear eye protecti on.
5 SAFETY REGULA TIONS Locate the machine where it is not exposed to rain or moisture. The site must be well lit. The machine must not be located close to gas, liquids or ot her materials that might catch fire or explode. Only a service technician is permitted to carry out work on the machine.
6 POWER SUPPL Y In order to obtain the best resu lt th e machine should be connected to a car battery 12 volt (max 12-14 volt, min 9 ampere). NOTE: Battery placemen t. Make sur e that the battery terminals ar e connected to the corr ect poles of the battery .

8 INST ALLING THE SHARPENING MACHINE Install the machine on a bench or stand. NOTE: The machine must be se cu r ely fixed. 1 The machine shou ld be mounted so that the front edge of it r e aches 1-5 mm over the edge of the bench or stand.
9 CENTRING THE GRINDING WHEEL If the lengths of the right and left cutting links turn out dif ferent on sharpening, this can be adjusted with a djusting screw 11. When the screw is adjusted, the length of th e inner or outer cutting links increases. TRIAL SHARPENING T est the various functions of the machine and study its motions.
10 SHARPENING CUTTING LINKS W ith manual or automatic shoutdow n. The mach ine can be st opped manually without a stop clamp when sharpening is co mplete, or with a stop clamp as described below . Activate Power on, switch 7 Start grinding motor only with switch 1.
11 FOR A DOUBLE LINK, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS Sharpen the other (2) (Fig E) of the two links on the same side, double links 2.3. Stop the autom ati c system with switch 2. Fix the clamp 1 (Fig F) betw een the two double links 2.3. Start the aut oma tic system with switch 2 and the motor with switch 1.
12 SHARPENING SETTING Setting the stroke between the cutting links. (Slacken the wingnut and push it to the right for a shorter stroke.) Adjust the cutting tooth length setting. (Clockwise = shorter cutting tooth) Depth adjustment of the grinding wheel.
13 GRINDING THE DEP TH GAUGE LUGS Set the grinding angle (o ° degrees); see unde r Grinding angle. Install the correct grinding wheel 1 (F ig G) for grinding the d epth gauge lugs (6 mm). Profile the grinding wh eel so that it m atches the lugs 2. Adjust 3 back so that the grinding whee l 1 is aimed at the lug 2.
14 MAINTENANCE CHANGING THE GRINDING WHEEL 1. Lift up the grinding head (1) and remove the guard (9). 2. Hold the grinding wheel ( 2) and sl acken the nut (3) manu ally or with pliers. 3. Remove the old grinding wheel an d fit the new one. Hand-tighten the nut The incoming power must always be switched off.
15 SETTINGS AND SER V ICIN G If one cutting link gets too deep or too shallow , this can be changed by slackening screw 1, 2, 3 or 4 and turning motor 5 as shown. T urn the motor in the relevant direction and tighten the screws. The machine is lar gely maintenance- free, but it should be kept clean by removing any grinding dust.
16 TROUBLESHOOTING The chain is not fixed during sharpening (Fig. I). T ighten M6 nut (1) clockwise about one turn, or more if necessary . The incoming power must always be switched off. More thor ough servicing or tr oubleshooting must be done by the dealer’s servicing team.

Basic tips: Cutting angle, see page 8 in the operator's manual . In most case s we recommend to grind at 60 degrees or fr om 50 to max 75 degrees. This also applies if the chain man ufac t urers recommend other settings. Sharpening settings, see page 12 in the operator's manual.
