1 In this Guide.. . This Hardware Installation Guide explains how to set up the 4-bay hot-swappable drive chassis included in the Adaptec ® 2410SA Enclosure kit.
2 Installing the Drive Carrier s T o install a drive carrier: 1 Mount a hard di sk drive in a drive carrier and secur e it with screws, as shown. 2 Insert the drive carrie r into the drive slot and push firmly but gently until you can pr ess the carrier handle down and click the release button into place.
3 Labelling the Drive Carriers The four drives are designated slightly dif fer ently by the Adaptec 2410SA controller , the drive chas sis, and the Adaptec Storage Manager softwar e. This T able shows the d iffer ent designations: The Adaptec 2410SA Enclosure kit co ntains labels that you can use to label the drive carriers as d esired.
4 2 T urn the drive chassis so that you can access the connectors on the rear panel. 3 Using the Figure as a guideline, connect the cables. Use gentle but firm pres sure to fi t the connectors together . Caution: The connectors are keyed to fit together one way only .
5 4 Install the drive chassis into th e computer cabinet, using the screws pr ovided in the Ad aptec 2410SA Enclosure kit. (Y ou r computer cabinet may not look exactly the same as the one shown in the example below .) 5 Install the Adaptec Serial A T A RAID 2410SA cont roller , if you haven’t already .
6 9 Power on your computer and ins tall the device driver for the Adaptec Serial A T A RAID 2410SA controller , if you haven’t already . Refer to the Adaptec Serial A T A RAID 2410 SA Quick Installation Guide , included in the kit, fo r detailed instructi ons.
