R Adaptec AUA-2000/3100LP/ 4000A/5100 USB2connect Adapter Installation Guide.
1 Intr oduction This Guide describes how to install Adaptec AUA-2000, AUA-310 0LP , AUA-4000A and AUA-5100 adapte rs in W indows ® and Ma cintosh ® computers. These USB (Universal Seri al Bus) adapters ar e compat ible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices an d work in virtually any PCI slot.
2 The AUA-4000A and AUA-5100 adapters are sho wn below . Note: The AUA-5100 has an internal US B connector (in addition to five external connect ors). For de tails on enabling the internal connector , refer to the USB2connect User ’ s Guide on the CD.
3 Kit Content s If you purchased your USB2connect ad apter from a r etail distributor , your kit contains the following items: ■ One Adaptec USB2co nnect adapter ■ Printed USB2connect Installation.
4 Installing the USB2connect Adapter 1 Dischar ge any static electricity from your body by touching a gr ounded metal object (such a s the exposed metal parts on the back of your computer) befor e hand ling the USB2connect adapter . 2 T urn of f power to the computer and disconnect the power cor d.
5 5 Low-pr ofile computers only – T o install the AUA -3100LP adapter in a low-pr ofile computer , r eplace the existing full-height bracket with the low-pr ofile bracket included in your kit. Remove and r eplace the bracket attachment scre ws on the adapter as shown below .
6 6 Insert the US B2connect adapter in the PCI expansi on slot. Press the adapter firmly into the sl ot until it clicks into pl ace. Replace the slot cover scr ew . When installe d pr operly , the adapter should be level with the expansion slot, as shown be low .
