6 IMPORT ANT: This unit is shipped without gaso line or oil in the engine . After assembly, se e OPERATION section of this manu al for proper fuel and engin e oil fill- up. This Chipper Shredder has been comple tely assembled at the factory, except fo r the debris collection bag, which is stowed in the chipper chute for ship ping.
7 Attaching The Debris Collection Bag • To attach the bag, plac e the opening of the bag completely over t he chute deflector. • Position the bag so that the wing knobs which secure the chute de flector to the housing are completely covered. • Pull on the drawstrap until the bag is tight around chute deflector.
8 Know Y our Chipper Shred der Read this operator’s manual an d safety ru les before operating your Chipper Shredd er. Compare the illustrations below with your equipm ent to familiarize yourself with the location of various controls and adjustments.
9 Tamper Use the tamper to assis t in feeding branches into the chipper chute. Hopper Leaves, twig s and branches up to 1/2-inch in diameter may be placed into th e hopper for shredding. IMPORT ANT: Never pl ace br anches with a diam eter greater than 1/2-inch in the hopper.
10 • Tighten the dipstick before removi ng it and check the oil fill level. See Figure 8. Figure 8 NOTE: Do not allow the dipstick to rub along the inside walls of the oil f ill tube when removing it. Doing so may result in a false dipstick reading.
11 • Move choke lever to CHOK E position. (A warm engine may not require choking). See Figure 10. Figure 1 0 • Move throttle control lever to FAST (rabbit) position. See Figure 11. Figure 1 1 • Grasp the starter handle and pull the rope out slowly until resistance is felt.
12 Chipping WARNING: Nev er operate the chipper shredder without chippe r chute lowered in to the operating position. Branches up to 3” in diamet er can be fed into the chipper chute. See Figur e 6.Observe the following guidelines when chippin g branches: • Keep both hands firmly on t he branch as you feed it into the chipper chute.
13 Lubrication Spring Latch: Lubricate the la tch with light oil once a season Chipper Chute Hinge: Lubricate the hinge with light oil once a season. Chute Deflector: Lubricate the pivot points on the chute deflector with light oil onc e a season.
14 • Lift air cleaner assembly (air cleaner cartridge and precleaner) off stud. • Push clean (or new) air cleaner assembly onto stud. Air cleaner must fit sec urely on base. • Push cover square ly onto base and tighten knob. NOTE: Clean pre-cleaner every few hours un der extremely dusty conditio ns.
15 WARNING: Always stop engine, disconnect spark plug wire a nd keep away from spark plug, bef ore performing any service or adjustmen ts on your machine. Disconnecting Spark Plug WARNING: The muffler and surrounding area will be hot if the engine has been running.
16 • Remove the two flange nuts (and hex bolts) w hich secure the hopper support bracket to the impeller housing. Retain the h ardware. See Figure 19. Figure 1 9 • Pivot the shre dder screen upward as instructed under the heading Cleaning the Reduction Chamber .
17 Chipper Shredder • Clean the equipment thoroughly. • Wipe equipment with an oiled rag to prevent rust. • Store unit in a clean , dry area. Do not store next to corrosive materials such as fertiliz er. Engine Engines stored over 30 da ys need special attention.

36 Apisonador Use el apisonador para ayudar a ingresar ramas d entro del canal de la cort adora. Tolva Las hojas, ramas pe queñas y ra mas de hasta 1/2 pulgada de d iámetro se pued en colocar dentro de la tolva para su trituración. IMPOR T ANTE: No coloqu e nunca en la tolv a ramas con un diámetro su perior a 1/2 pulg adas.
37 • Limpie la varilla del nivel de acei te con una tel a limpia y vuelva a inse rtarla en el tubo de lle nado de aceit e. • Ajuste la varilla de medición del nivel de aceite antes de sacarla y verifique el nivel del mismo.
38 • Cambie la palanca de obturación a la posición CHOKE (obturación). (Si el motor está tibi o la obturación puede no ser necesaria). Ver Figura 10. Figura 1 0 • Mueva la palanca de control del regulado r a la posición FAST (rápido, represent ado por una li ebre).
39 • No ponga nunca más de una rama dent ro del canal de la cortadora por vez. • En el canal de la cortadora sólo se puede colocar ramas (de madera).
40 Lubricación Cerrojo de resort e Lubrique el cerrojo co n aceite liviano una vez por t emporada. Bisagra del canal d e la cortadora: Lubrique la bisagra con aceit e liviano una vez por temporada. Canal de desc arga: Lubrique los los puntos cruciales del desviador del canal con acei te liviano una vez por temporada.
41 • Levante el montaje del fil tro de aire (el cartucho y el prefiltro) fuera del perno. • Empuje el montaje del fil tro de aire limpio (o nuevo ) sobre el perno. El filtro de aire debe quedar bien aju stado sobre la base. • Empuje la cubierta directamente sobre la base y ajuste la perilla.
42 ADVERTENCIA: Detenga siempr e el motor, desconecte el ca ble de la bujía y manténgalo a lejado de la mism a antes de realizar todo tip o de servicio o de ajustes en la máquina. Desconexión de la bujía ADVERTENCIA: El silenciador y la zona circundante están calientes si el motor ha estado en funciona miento.
43 • Saque las dos tu ercas con reborde (y los pern os hexagonales) que sujet an el soporte de la tolva a la caja del motor. Guarde los ele mentos de ferretería. Ver Fi gura 19. Figura 1 9 • Gire la pantalla de desgranado hacia arriba como se indica en las i nstrucciones baj o el títul o de Limpieza d e la cámara d e reducc ión .
44 Cortadora trituradora • Limpie el equipo p or completo. • Limpie el equip o con un trapo con aceite para evit ar que se oxide. • Almacene la unidad en una zona limpia y seca. No la almacene cerca de mat eriales corrosivos como por ejemplo fertil izantes.
