Using this Owner's Manual This Owner's Manual instructs you how to oper- ate your mobile phone using the multi-function steering wheel, Display and the v oice input sys- tem*. F or how to operate the mobile phone itself please see the separate Owner's Manual.
Exposur e to radio frequency technology BMW strongly r ecommends the use of a base plate with a snap-in adapter* in your car . The use of this special equip- ment allows the mobile phone to operate via the external antenna, enabling the phone to decrease the output power .
Depending on your handset, you can connect your Bluetooth phone via the Bluetooth interface or the CPT 9000 via the cradle to your vehicle. Getting started with your Bluetooth phone, ref er to pag.
The principle Y our car is equipped with a Bluetooth portable phone interface. As soon as you have performed a once-only pairing procedur e in the car , you will also be able to oper- ate a Bluetooth .
Inserting the Snap-in adapter 1. Press button 1 . T ake out the cover 2. Insert the snap-in adapter and press down until it engages. T o remove the snap in-adapter: Press button 1 .
Activating Bluetooth in your vehicle 1. Press the button to call up the start menu 2. Select the i menu and press the controller 3. Select "Communication settings" and press the controller 4. Select "Bluetooth" and press the controller 5.
P airing In order to pair , you must enter a random passkey both via the mobile phone and via the Display . The passkey can be any number that you choose up to 16 digits long. 7. Depending on your mobile phone, you will be prompt ed by the mobile phone or by the Display to enter the passkey .
List of pair ed mobile phones All mobile phones that are paired ar e displayed in a list. The mobile phone, which is at the top of the list, has the highest priority and the vehicle will try to connect to this device first. If the device is not available, the vehicle will proceed with the next device at the list.
De-activating Bluetooth connection If the Bluetooth connection is de-activated, you can no longer operat e the mobile phone via the vehicle. T o de-activate the Bluetooth connection between your vehicle and your mobile phone tempor arily: 1. T ake the mobile phone out of the cradle and switch it off 2.
T o operate the BMW mobile phone using the equipment in the vehicle, it must be placed in the cradle. While using BMW Assist, you will not be able to operate the BMW mobile phone until after you have completed the service.

Canceling operation via voice Briefly press the button on steering wheel or {Cancel}. In dialogs where text of any kind can be spoken, e.g. a name, canceling is only possible using the button. The dialog is automatically interrupted when an incoming call is received.
