P100IH ISDN Router Internet Ac cess 3-1 Chapter 3: Internet Access This chapter shows you how to configure the LAN as well as the WAN of your Prestige for Internet access. 3.1 Factor y Ethernet Defaults The Ethernet parameters of the Prestige are preset in the factory wi th the following values: 1.
P100IH ISDN Router 3-2 Internet Acces s The subnet mask s pecifies the network num ber portion of an IP address. Your Prestige w i ll compute the subnet m ask automatically based on the IP address th at you entered. You don ’t need to chang e the subnet mask computed by the Prestige un less you are instructed to do otherw ise.
P100IH ISDN Router Internet Ac cess 3-3 3.2.4 DHCP Configura tion DHCP (Dy namic H ost Configu ration Protocol ) allow s the individual cli ents (works tations ) to obtain t he TCP/IP configuration at s tart-up from a centralized DHCP server.
P100IH ISDN Router 3-4 Internet Acces s 3.3 TCP/IP Ethernet Setup and DHCP You will now use Menu 3.2 to configure your Prestige for TCP/IP. To edit Menu 3.2, select the menu optio n Ethernet Setup in the Main Menu. When Menu 3 appears , select the submenu optio n TCP/IP and DHCP Setup and press [En ter] .

P100IH ISDN Router Dial-In Serv er Configur ation 7-1 Chapter 7: Dial-in Server Configuration You can conf igure your Prestige to receive calls from remote dial-i n users, e.g., telecommuters, as well as remote nodes. There are sev eral diff erences between dial-in users and remote nodes, as sum marized in the table below .
P100IH ISDN Router 7-2 Dial-In Ser ver Config uration 7.1 Remote Access Serv er Telecommuting enables peop le to work at remote sites and yet still have access to the resources in the business office. Typically , a telecommuter will use a client workstation with TCP/IP and dial-ou t capabilities, e.

The param eter s in Menu 13 aff ect incoming calls from both remote dial-in users, and re mote nodes until authentication is co mpleted.

P100IH ISDN Router Dial-In Serv er Configur ation 7-5 Recv. Authe n This fie ld sets the authent ication protocol for incoming calls. For security rea son, setti ng authenti cation t o none is strongly disco uraged. Opt ions for thi s fiel d are: z CH AP/ P AP - Your Prestige will try CHAP first, but PAP will be u sed if CHAP is not av ailable.
P100IH ISDN Router 7-6 Dial-In Ser ver Config uration IP Address S upplied By : Dial-in Use r If set to Yes , the Pre stige w ill allow a remote host to specify it s own IP ad dress. If set to No , the r emote host must u se the IP address assigned by your Presti ge from the IP pool, c onfigured below.
P100IH ISDN Router Dial-In Serv er Configur ation 7-7 but not the remote nodes. You can specify up to 4 filter sets separated b y comma, e.g., 1, 5, 9, 12, in each filter field. The default is no filters. Spaces are accepted in this field. For more in formation on defining the filters, see Chapter 9: .
