4 2. Front Panel 2-1. Touch Buttons If you touch any of 8 buttons, The touch buttons are ena bled. The backlights of 8 buttons will light up indicating that it is ready to use. If you touch any button while the backlights are on, the light blinks 4 times indicating that it has received your input.

6 4. Remote Control 4-1. Operating DP-S1 In order to operate the DP-S1 with th e enclosed remote c o ntrol, please select STB mode by pr essing th e STB button. The red backlight beneath t he STB button lights when you press a button in this mode. The below picture and right table show the function of each button on the remote control.

A/V Connection Depending on your A/V equipment including TV which you would like t o connect to, there are various ways you can connect the DP-S1 and A/V equipment. T o make the best connections, please r efer to th e manual of your TV , stereo system or other equipment which you would like to connect to.

Connection Using a Wi reless Router The DP-S1 supports 802.11g wireless LAN protocol, thus it is strongly recommended to connect the DP-S1 to a wireless router compatible with 802.11g protoc ol. For this co nnection, the following equipments are required; z A wireless router with a built-in network switch.
How to Connect 15 3-3. Direct Connection to the PC With this configuration, y ou can share contents with a PC thr ough home network but the DP-S1 can not access to Internet. For this connection, the following equipments is required; z A PC with Windows XP oper ating system.
How to Connect 16 3-4. Direct Connection to Internet With this configuration, y ou can not share contents with a PC through home network. For this connection, a crossed Ethernet cable (not included in the box) is required. The most ISP (Internet Service Provider) services DHCP feature.
Quick Setup 17 4. Quick Setup This chapter guides you through the basic set up of the DP-S1 so that you can experience its basic feature. In order to enjoy the DP-S1 fully , please refer t o Chapter 9. Advanced Setu p. 1. Start Quick Setup If A/V and antenna connection is complete, press the STANDBY button to start.
Quick Setup 18 1-1. Quick Setup of Video Output F ormat If the front display window indicates that the DP-S1 is ready to use but nothing displays on the TV screen, you hav e to adjust the format and resoluti on of t he video outpu t by pres sing th e TV-OUT button.
Quick Setup 19 1-2. Basic Operation 1) Enter and Exit Setup Menu Y ou can enter the SET -UP MENU with the SET-UP button on the remo te control and exit to the previous oper ation mode such as LIVE or FILE PLA Y with the EXIT button .
Quick Setup 20 3) How to Change Configuration In the setup menu, there are sever al ways to change the configur ation. This manual explains how to change the configuration, here are three cases which are used frequently . z Selection on a pop-up menu: Y ou can choose an option on the pop-up menu.
Quick Setup 21 z On-screen keyboard: If you need to input alphabetic characters, an on-screen keyboard will be displayed. Y ou can move the cursor with the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT buttons and select the letters with the OK button. The YELLOW and BLUE buttons work as a space and backspace keys respectively .
Quick Setup 22 2. Configuration 2-1. Time Setting Please set the current date and time . The date and time information will be the refer ence for th e timer r ecording. Ther efore, you have t o configure the time and date information precisely . Y ou can also select preferred date and time formats.
Quick Setup 23 z Date Format: Please select a display format for the date either “DD/MM/YYYY” , “MM/DD/YYYY” or “YYYY/MM/DD” on a pop-up menu. (DD-day , MM-month, YYYY - year) z Time Format: Please select how to display the time: either a 12-hour format or a 24-hour format.
Quick Setup 24 2-2. A/V Output Setting Y o u have to set the video and audio configur ation according to your TV set. Please make sure the video and audio port of the DP-S1 is connected to your TV set. The A/V Output menu consists of two parts; the video output and the audio output.
Quick Setup 25 - Pan&Scan: The picture is displayed in full on your 4:3 TV screen, but left an d ri ght sides of the ori gin a l pi c t u r e c a n n ot be displ ayed. z Video T ype: Y ou can select either PA L for NTSC format. Most TV sets support the P AL format in Australia.
Quick Setup 26 2) Audio Outputs The DP-S1 supports 5.1ch au dio in an analog format. It has Dolby Digital decoder so that i t can d ecode an d outpu t the D olby soun d through the RCA connectors. It also supports digital outputs wi th optical and coaxial ports.
Quick Setup 27 2-3. Service Scan Before watching a broadcasted progr am, you need to scan all the services first. The scanned services will be stored in the non-volatilize memo ry . The refor e you do n’t hav e to sca n the se rvice again unless you delete all the information of th e service stored in the memor y .
Quick Setup 28 z Start Scan: After selecting your scanning range, yo u can “start scanning” . Select Start Scanning an d then press the OK button. On the screen, the scanning window appears and displays the process. Now , you are ready to watch live televisio n by pressing the LIVE button.
Quick Setup 29 3. Network The DP-S1 supports two networking interfaces: Ethernet and wireless LAN. Y ou can use one of these interfaces at a time. T o us e the wireless LAN interface, you have to prepar e a wireless router . This section will guide you how to configure the netw ork interfaces.
Quick Setup 30 3-2. Ethernet Setting 1) Automatic Configuration If you enable the Ethernet interface by selecting the “ LAN” option on the “Network Device” menu, all the items to be configured for the Ethernet interface will be displayed.
Quick Setup 31 2) Manual Configuration If you select the “Disable” option in the “DHCP” , you have to input the IP address manually . z IP Address: Y ou can input the address with the NUMERIC button s and the LEFT/RIGHT buttons. Y ou can move to the next item of Subnet Mask with the DOWN button.
Quick Setup 32 3-3. W-LAN Setting The other interface av ailable for networking is the wireless LAN. Y ou can set and use this interface by setting the “Network Device” menu as “W- LAN” . Because the wireless LAN communicates through a radio channel, you have to configure additional feature.
Quick Setup 33 2) W-LAN Configuration After select an AP , you have to configure wirel ess LAN interface; z Network T ype: you have to specify the type of the device which the DP-S1 communicates with. If you connect your DP-S1 with a router , please set the “Netw ork T ype” as “In frastructure” .
Quick Setup 34 3) IP Configuration Y o u also have to set the IP information for the wireless LAN interface. As the Ethernet device, you can select how you configure the IP information: automatic configuration from DHCP server or manual configuration.
Quick Setup 35 3-4. Ice Guide The DP-S1 supports Ice TV service thro ugh the Internet. If you have an Ice TV acc ount, please set your account to utilize the service on your DP- S1.
Quick Setup 36 3-5. WizPNP The WizPNP enables to share the rec ording files with other beyonwiz produc t s or P Cs . The above picture illustrates how the WizPNP functions; z WizPNP Server: if yo u se.
Quick Setup 37 1) Set as WizPNP Client Y o u can set th e DP-S1 as a WizPNP client; please select the “Client ” menu with the OK button and select “Enable” with the OK button. Y ou can also disable the WizPNP client function by selecting “Disable” wit h the OK button .
Quick Setup 38 3-6. Windows Sharing Y o u can set account information of the ID an d password to share files in the shared folder on your PC, which is blocked to access for the “Guest” account and requires an ID and password to access.

STB & PVR Function 40 2) Change Service with Service List The service list contains all the broadcasting services you can receive. Y o u can get the s ervice list as a pop-up menu by pressing the LIST button and select a service with the UP/DOWN buttons.
STB & PVR Function 41 3) Other Ways t o Change Service As in conventional TV sets, you can change a service which you want to watch or listen to in the following ways; z Service Change with the CH+/CH- buttons: As you press the CH+ or CH- button, the next or previous service will be selected.
STB & PVR Function 42 1-2. Information Box Y o u can check the in formation of a service and the program using three information boxes; the information box contains specific info rmation of a current service and program. The extended information box contains more details about the current program.
STB & PVR Function 43 1-3. Volume Level Adjust With the VOL+/VOL- buttons, you can adjust the volume level of the analog audio output. The MUTE button will turn off the analog and digital audio out puts. NOTE z Y o u can not control the volume level of the digital audio outputs if you set the audio format as “pass -through” .
STB & PVR Function 44 1-5. Subtitle and Teletext Service 1) Subtitle Service If you want to view subtitles on the scre en, please press the SUBTITLE button. T o display the su btitle, pleas e select “Ena ble” and press the OK button. Y ou can hide the subtitle by selecting “Disable” with the OK button.
STB & PVR Function 45 1-6. Sleep Timer You can set the DP-S1 to turn off automatically at a specific time. Press the SLEEP button to set the timer. The DP-S1 will only turn off after a recording has finished even if you set it to turn off before the completion of the current recording(s).
STB & PVR Function 46 2. Service Edit 2-1. Service List Edit Y o u can edit the service list if you want. The followings illustr ate the editing functions you can use to edit a service list. z Lock/Unlock: For your privacy , you can protect certain service from unauthorized access.
STB & PVR Function 47 2-2. Favorite Group F avorite grou p is your persona l collec tion of TV or radio ser vices. You can organize up to 20 groups including three default groups. 1) Favorite Group Edit Before you use the favorite service groups, you have to organize them.
STB & PVR Function 48 4) Service Change on Favorite Group If you change services using the service list when you select a favorite group, the service list will show the services belong to that fav orite group. Y ou can ch a n ge amon g these services on the list.
STB & PVR Function 49 3. PVR Functions The major functions of a PVR are ti me-shifting and recording. If you want to play a recorded program, please use the multimedia contents playback function with the FILE PL AY button on the remote control. Chapter 6.

STB & PVR Function 51 3-2. A-B Repeat The DP-S1 can play a c ertain section (A-B) repeatedly . Please activate the p rogress bar with the OK button. Place the lower anchor mark at the start position and press the YELLOW button. A new anchor mark with “ A ” will indicates the start position.
STB & PVR Function 52 3-3. Instant Recording 1) Start Reco rding Y ou can record the current service and store it in the HDD instantly by pressing the REC button. The following picture shows options you can choose when you record a program. z Duration: Y ou can change the duration of recording with the LEFT and RIGHT buttons .
STB & PVR Function 53 NOTE z If you disable the time-shifting function, you can’ t record a pr ogram from the time-shifting buffer . Th eref ore you can only choose a single option of “ Live” when you inten d to rec ord a pro gram.
STB & PVR Function 54 3) Pause/Resume and Stop Recording If you want to skip recording for a certain period of time, i.e. , commercial advertisements, please press the REC button while you are watching the recording service. Once a pop-u p page appears, please pres s the PAUSE butto n.
STB & PVR Function 55 4) Change Recording Options wh ile Recording Y o u can change the duration of a recording or file name after the recording has started. Y ou can also lock or unlock the recording file while you are recording the service. Pr ess the POP-UP button and select “Recording Info rmation” with the OK button .
STB & PVR Function 56 3-4. Timer Y ou can set pr ogr ams wh ich y ou wou ld lik e to reco rd to HDD . Th e tim er function can also be used to turn on the DP-S1 and watch the set program or tr ansmit the picture to an externa l recording device such as a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) according to your timer reservations.
STB & PVR Function 57 2) Add New Timer T o add a timer , pleas e press the RED button to display a menu on the screen. A new pop-up window will appear to c onfigure the timer . Y o u can configure the following items with your preference for a ne w time record.
STB & PVR Function 58 z Mode: If you would like to watch a certain progr am or tr ansfer it to an external recorder instead of recording it t o HDD, please choose “View” option with the LEFT/RIGHT b u t t o n s . I f y o u w a n t t o r e c o r d a program, please s elect “Record” o ption.
STB & PVR Function 59 4) Delete Timer Select a timer which you want to delete with the UP/DOWN button s and press th e GREEN button. A pop-up confirmation will appear and choose “Y es” with the OK button. If you do not want to delete a timer , choose “No” with the OK button or pr es s EXIT.
STB & PVR Function 60 3-5. Recording Conflict The DP -S1 ca n record up to two pro gr ams simul taneo usly . I f you in tend to record more than two pr ograms simultaneously , a w arning pop-up of duplication will be disp layed.
STB & PVR Function 61 2) When New Recording Starts If a new recording starts according to a timer while the DP-S1 records two programs simultaneo usly , t he following pop-up will be displayed. There are two options you can choose if duplication occurs: you can stop one of the current recordings to let a new recording start.
STB & PVR Function 62 NOTE z The ne w record ing ha s higher p riori ty tha n the exist ing rec ordin gs. Therefore, when a new recording starts it will stop one of the existing recordings, which ends earlier respectively , if there are no confirmation or cancellation.
STB & PVR Function 63 4. EPG (Electronic Program Guide) The EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is a time table of TV programs which show upcoming programs on a network.
STB & PVR Function 64 4-2. EPG with Single Service This EPG shows only one service at a time. You can change to the multiple-service EPG with the RED button. Programs are listed vertically by time. Theref ore you can move cu rsor to the previous or next program with the UP/DOWN buttons.
STB & PVR Function 65 4-3. Service Change and Recordin g 1) Service Change If you want to change and watch a certain program, place the cursor on the program you want to watc h and press the OK button. In this case, the thumb-nail screen will be changed and the time-shifting buffer will be refres hed.
STB & PVR Function 66 3) Set timer recording If the cursor is placed on a futu re program, th e REC button sets a timer and the colour of types changes to red to indicate that the program is reserved to be recorded. If a c ertain cell in the EPG has red colour, that program is reserved to be recorded.
File Playback Function 67 6. File Playback Function This chapter covers all functions regarding playing multimedia contents. The DP-S1 can play movie, music and p hoto files stored in the internal hard disk drive, PCs on the home network, optical disk such as DVD or CD, USB stor age devices, and memory cards.
File Playback Function 68 2) Step 2: Select Storage With the UP/DOWN buttons, you can select a device to access. As you select a device, folders and files stor ed in that device will be listed on the screen.
File Playback Function 69 The “PC” icon indicates the PC and the “STB” icon indicates the WizPNP server . z USB: Y o u can access any USB devices connected to the DP-S1 by selecting “USB” icon on the left me nu. If ther e is more than one US B devices, all the devices will be listed on the screen.
File Playback Function 70 WARNING z Each USB port can supply maximum of 500mA to the external device. Connecting device s consuming more than 500m A can damage the DP-S1 if there is no additional power supplier to the USB device. z The USB device should be d etached properly to prevent th e DP-S1 from unstable operatio n or damage.
File Playback Function 71 3) Step 3: Exploring Folders and File s Once you select a content type, i.e. , “Mo vie” and storage or device, i.e. , “Network” , press the OK button to enter the list of folders and/or files (the file list). In the file list, the UP/DOWN buttons mov e the cursor upward or downward to select a folder or file.

File Playback Function 73 1) Trick Mode Powerful trick -operation is supported while you watching a movie. z PLAY button will display a time-bar . It changes to the normal playback mode while other trick mode is enabled such as PAUSE, FF or REW . z PAUSE button will hold the picture until you play again with the PLAY button .
File Playback Function 74 2) A-B Repeat The DP-S1 can play a c ertain section (A-B) repeatedly . Please activate the p rogress bar with the OK button. Place the lower anchor mark at the start position and press the YELLOW button. A new anchor mark with “ A ” will indicates the start position.
File Playback Function 75 3) Subtitle The DP-S1 can decode a nd display s ubtitles fro m a subtitl e file. T o play a movie with subtitle, please copy the subtitle file to the same folder of the movie file and g ive the same file name as the mo vie file.
File Playback Function 76 2-2. Music Playback Y o u can play music the same wa y you play a movie; please select the “Music” icon on the top me nu to play music. Y ou can utilize the same trick operation for pla ying music which is described in the previous section for playing a movie.
File Playback Function 77 2-3. Photo Playback T o play ph oto fil es, plea se sele ct the “P hoto” icon on the t op me nu. Once the DP-S1 play a photo file, it will play all photos in the folder successively .
File Playback Function 78 2-4. Play-list The play-list is a perso nal collection of multimedia contents, which stores the list of files temporarily . Y o u can organize a separate play-list for each media content type: mo vie, music and photo. 1) Add File to Play-list Y ou can organize a play-list and enjoy the contents.
File Playback Function 79 3) Play from play-list Y ou can pla y files in the play-list b y pressing the OK or PLAY button. If you change to the previous or next file in the p lay-list, press the PREV or NEXT button .

File Management 81 7. File Management 1. Rename Y o u can rename a recording file stored on the onboard HDD. Please select a file on the FLIE PLA Y menu and press the POPUP button. A list of extended menus will be displayed. Please select “Rename” menu with the OK button .
File Management 82 2. Delete Y ou can delete the recording files stoned on the onboard H DD. Please select a file on the FLIE PLA Y menu and press the POPUP button. A list of extended menu will be displayed. Please select “Delete” menu with the OK button .
File Management 83 3. Backup to USB Storage Y o u can copy or move the recording files to a USB stor age device such as a USB HDD. Please select a file on the FLIE PLAY menu and press the POPUP button. A list of extended menu will be displayed. Please select “Copy to” or “Move to” menu with the OK button .
File Management 84 If you confirm, two options will be displayed. Please select “USB” with the OK button. The USB storage devices connected to the DP-S1 will be listed. Please select “USB” with the OK button . The USB storage devices connected to the DP-S1 will be listed.
File Management 85 The RED button will copy or move the files to the selected folder . A progress-bar indicates the status. NOTE z If you cancel to copy or move files, please press the EXIT button . z In order to watch a TV program, pl ease press the LIVE button.

Advanced Setup 91 9. Advanced Setup As an extension to Cha pter 4. Quick Setup, this chapter illustrates how to configure your DP-S1. The MI SCEL LANEOUS an d MANAGEMENT parts will be explained. In this chapter as they were the r emaining two items that were not explained previously .
Advanced Setup 92 1-1. Favorite Before us ing th e favorit e servi ce grou ps, you have to or ganize th em. The edit page consists of three columns: Group, F a v . Service and All Service. Once you enter into the list with the OK button, you can place the curs or on one of the thr ee colu mns wit h the LEFT and RIGHT buttons.
Advanced Setup 93 2) Favorite Service According to your selection of the favorite group in the f irst column, the services belonging to the favorite group will be display ed on the second column. Y o u can remove a service from the favorite group with the OK button.
Advanced Setup 94 1-2. OSD 1) Help Box Display Y o u can hide the help box which is displayed with the service list. If you set this option as “Hide” , the help box does not appear when you press the LIST butto n . 2) Transparency Y o u can set the transparency of the OSD.
Advanced Setup 95 1-3. Access Control Y ou can set a PIN number to access certain set -up menus. After setting a PIN number , y ou have to re-enter the PIN number to ent er the menu again. 1) Set PIN Number Y ou can set 4-digit PIN number with the NUMERIC buttons.
Advanced Setup 96 z Time Setting Menu: If you set this, you have to enter th e PIN nu mber when you change the time and dat e setting. z Network Configuration Menu: If you set this, you have to enter the PIN number when you change the net work configuration.

F/W Upgrade 1) Firmware Information Befo re upgr ad ing the firmw are, you ca n check the in formati on and last update. Press the OK button to get the information: System Identit y , Firmware V ersion and Last Update.
Advanced Setup 98 If you select the “Network” option, the PCs and network devices connected to your home network will be displayed. If yo u can not see any device on the list view , please press the RED button to scan the devices. Y o u can also scan a specific network device with its IP address.
