1-11 E EJU10011 Cruising limitations ● Scan constantly for people, objects , and other watercraft. Be aler t f or conditions that limit your visibility or bloc k your vision of others . ● Operate def ensively at saf e speeds and keep a saf e distance awa y from peo ple , objects, and other w ate rcr aft.
1-12 E ● This watercraft is not equipped with light- ing require d f o r night operation. Do not operate the watercr aft after sunset or bef ore dawn, otherwise you increase the risk of coll iding with another boat, which could result in sev ere injur y or death.
1-13 E ● Helmets meeting Snell or DOT standards are required for IJSBA-sanctioned races. Y ou must decide whether to wear a hel- met while you ride f or recreation. Y ou should know that a helmet could help pro- tect you in cer tain kinds of accidents and that it could injure you in others.
1-14 E ● Do not attempt to modify this watercraft! Modifications to your w atercraft ma y reduce saf ety and re liability , and render the watercraft unsaf e or illegal for use . ● Attach the engine shut-off cord (lany ard) to your wrist and keep it free from the handlebars so that the engine stop s if the operator f alls off.

1-20 E Rules when encountering vessels There are three main situatio ns that y ou ma y encounter with o t he r v essels which could lead to a col lision unless the Steering Rules are f o llo wed: Meet.
1-21 E Over taking If you are passing another v essel, you are the give-w ay v essel. This means that the other ve ssel is expected to maintain its course and speed.

2-5 E EJU10090 Operation of contr ols and other functions EJU10100 Seat There is a seat latch 1 at the rear of the seat to remo ve the seat. T o remove the seat: Pull the seat latch up, and then pull the seat off.
2-6 E EJU12130 Hood T o open the hood, pull the latch 1 up , and then lift the hood up. T o close the hood, push the hood down to lock it in place . N O TE: @ Make sure that the hood is properly secured bef o re oper ating the watercraft. @ EJU10120 Fuel tank filler cap T o remo ve the fuel tank filler cap 1 , tur n it counterclockwise .
2-7 E EJU20702 Remote contr ol transmitter (for VX110 Deluxe) The Y amaha Secur ity System and low- RPM mode settings are selecte d using the remote control transmitter. (See “ Y amaha Security System/Low-RPM mode ” on page 2-14 for inf or mation on using the remote control transmitter .
2-8 E N O TE: @ While the engine is running, input from the remote control transmitter is not receiv ed. @ This de vice complies with P ar t 15 of the FCC Rules.
2-9 E EJU10160 Engine shut-off s witch Inser t the clip 1 , on the end of the engine shut-off cord 2 , under the engine shut-off s witch 3 (blac k button). The engine will stop automatically when the clip is removed from the s witch, such as if the operator falls off the watercr aft.
2-10 E EJU10180 Thr ottle lever Squeeze the throttle le ver 1 to increase engine speed. Release the throttle lev er to decrease engine speed or to retur n it to the idle posi- tion. EJU11301 Cooling water pilot outlet This watercra ft is e quipped with a cooling water pilot outlet.
2-11 E EJU19950 Steering system Y our watercraft can be steered b y tur ning the handlebars 1 in the directi on y ou wish to tra vel. When the handl ebars are turned, the angle of the jet thr ust nozzle 2 is changed and the direction of the watercraft is changed accordingly .
2-12 E EJU18771 Shift le ver (for VX110 Delux e) The shift lev er is located on the sta rboard (right) si de of the watercr aft an d is used to control the rev erse gate, which allows the watercr aft to mov e in rev erse or f orward.
2-13 E EJU19670 Handgrip The handgrip 1 provides a handhold for boarding the watercraft and f or a spotter when facing rearw ard. W A R N I N G @ Do not use the handgrip to lift the water- craft. The water c raft could fall, whic h could result in severe injury .
2-14 E EJU19940 Y a maha Engine Mana g ement System (YEMS) This model is equipped with an inte- grated, computerized management system that controls and adjusts ignition timing, fuel injection, engine di agnostics, and the Off- Throttle Steering (O TS) system.
2-15 E EJU21572 Y amaha Securit y System loc k and unloc k modes (f or VX110 Deluxe) The lock and unloc k modes of this system can only be selected while the engine is stopped. When the lock b utton 1 i s pressed, the beeper sounds once. This indicates the lock mode is selected and the engi ne cannot be star ted.
2-16 E EJU21582 Selecting the normal mode/ low-RPM m ode (for VX110 Delux e) The nor mal mode and low-RPM mode can only be selected when the engine is stopped in the unlock mode. Press the unlock b utton for more than 4 seconds to select the nor mal mode or low-RPM mode.

2-18 E EJU17870 T achometer The engine spee d (r/min) is displa yed b y segments . Each segment indicates a 250 r/min increment. EJU20740 Speedometer The meter shows the w atercraft speed against water .
2-19 E EJU21172 Hour meter/V oltmeter N O TE: @ T o s witch the di spla y between the hour meter and voltmeter , push the select but to n 1 f or at least 1 second after the meter is displa yed f or more than 10 sec- onds. @ Hour meter The hour meter is provided to mak e it easy to f ollow the maintenance sched ule .
2-20 E EJU20770 Fuel warning indicator If the fuel remaining in the tank drops to about 13 L (3.4 US gal, 2.9 Imp ga l), the lowest tw o fu el le v el segments , the fuel warning indicator , and the war ning light all begin to blink. The b u zz er also star ts sound- ing inter mit tently .
2-21 E EJU21183 Engine ov erheat warning indicator This model is equi pped with an engine ov erheat warning system. If the engine star ts to ov erheat, the war n- ing light and the ov erheat war ning indicator blink, and then come on. The buzzer also begins to sound inte rmittently , and then it sounds continuously .
2-22 E EJU20801 “ SECURITY ” indicator light (for VX110 Deluxe) The “ SECURITY ” indicator light 1 comes on when the unlock mode of the Y amaha Security System is selected. The watercraft can be ridde n normally when this light is on. (See page 2-16 f or more information.
2-23 E EJU10350 Storage compar tments A front storage compar tment and a glo ve compar tment are provided. N O TE: @ ● Make sure that the storage compar tments are proper ly secured bef ore operating the watercr aft. ● The storage compar tments are not designed to be water proof .

3-1 E EJU17980 Fuel and oil This watercr aft is equipp ed with a 4-stroke engine. Con ventional 2-stroke engine oil cannot be used. The engine utilizes an electronic fuel injection system to deliver the optimal air- fuel mixture ratio require d b y the engine.
3-2 E ● Tighten the filler cap securely after refueling. ● If y ou should swallo w some gasoline, inhale a lot of gasoline v apor , or get gasoline in y our eyes, get immediate medical attention. ● If any gasoline spills onto y our skin, immediate ly wash w ith soap and water .
3-3 E EJU17990 Engine oil Use a combination of the re commended SAE and API oil classifications shown in the char t below . CAUTION: @ Use only 4-str oke engine oil. @ EJU21200 Filling the fuel tank CAUTION: @ Be careful when refueling. A void getting water or other contaminants in the fuel tank.

3-5 E EJU10480 Pre-operation chec k points EJU21210 Engine compar tment V e ntilate the engine compar tment before each use. T o v e ntilate the engine compar tment, remov e the seat. (See pag e 2-5 f or seat remov al and install ation procedures.) Lea ve the engine compar tment open for a f ew min- utes to allow any fuel v apors to escape.
3-6 E EJU21220 Fuel level Check the fuel system for leakage , crac ks, or malfunctions bef ore each use. (See page 4-11 for chec k points and correct procedures.) 1. Remo ve t he fuel tank filler cap to release any pressure that might hav e built up in the fuel tank.
3-7 E EJU21230 Engine oil level Check the engine oil le vel bef ore ea ch use. CAUTION: @ ● When chec king the engine oil level on water , be careful of other watercraft, boats, swimmer s, and obstacles. The water current and wind can cause the watercraft to move and lead t o a colli- sion.
3-8 E 4. Remov e the oil tank filler cap 1 , wipe the dipstick clean, and th en scre w the filler cap into the filler h ole completely . Remov e the filler cap again and check that the oil lev el is between the mini m um le vel mark 3 and maximum le v el mark 2 on the dipstic k.
3-9 E EJU19610 W ater separator Check the water separator 1 for w at e r . Nor mally the w ate r separator is empty . The water separator retains any water enter ing through the fuel tank breather hose if the watercr aft is capsized. If water remains in the water separator , drain it by remo ving the drain screw 2 .
3-10 E EJU20581 Stern drain plug Check the stern drain plugs for proper installation. CAUTION: @ ● Make sure that the ster n drain plugs are tightened securely before launch- ing the water c raft. Otherwise, water may flood the engine compartment and cause the watercraft to submer g e.
3-11 E EJU21610 Fire extinguisher Check that there is a full fire e xtinguisher on board. The fire extinguisher holder and cov er 1 are located in the front sto r age compar tment. T o store the fire e xtinguisher , unhook the band 2 and remov e the cover .
3-12 E EJU18340 Thr ottle Squeeze and release the throttle lev er se veral times to make sure that there is no hesitation in its trav el. It should be smooth ov er the complete range, and spring back to the idle position when r eleased. W A R N I N G @ Bef ore starting the engine, al ways chec k the operation of the thr ottle lever .
3-13 E EJU12451 Shift lever and re verse gate (for VX110 Deluxe) Check f o r p roper oper ation of the shift lev e r and re verse gate. Make sure that the re ve rse gate go es down completely when the shift lev er is pulled up . Also , make sure that the re verse gate goes up completely when the shift le ver is pushed do wn.
3-14 E EJU10580 Jet unit Carefully check the jet intake f or weeds, debris, or anything else that might restrict the intake of w ater . If the intake is clogged, cavitation could occur , reduci ng jet thrust, and possibly damaging the j et pump .
3-15 E EJU18352 Switches CAUTION: @ Do not run the engine of th e watercraft for more than 15 seconds on land with- out supplying water , o therwise the engine ma y overheat. @ Check the star t s witch, the engine stop s wi t ch, and th e engine shut-off s witch for proper operation.
3-16 E EJU18360 Operation W A R N I N G @ Before op erating your water craft, become familiar with all controls. Con- sult y our Y amaha d ealer about an y con- trol or f unction you do no t fully understand . Failure to und erstand how controls work could cause an accide nt or prevent y ou from a voiding an accident.
3-17 E 2. F or th e first 5 minutes , r un the engine at trolling speed only . For the 30 min utes of operation after that, keep the engine speed below 5,000 r/min. For the 1 hour of operation after that, k eep th e engine speed below 6,500 r/min. 3. Proceed with nor mal operation.

Put the watercraft in water that is deep enough, and then board the watercraft from the side or the rear . 2. Attach the engine shu t -off cord to y our left wrist, and then instal l the cl ip to the engine shut-off s witch.

Do not operate the watercra ft wh en the total weight e xceeds 240 kg (530 lb) includin g an y cargo. If it is difficult to balance the w atercraf t at a stand- still, proceed as follo ws: 1.

3-31 E W A R N I N G @ ● Do not release the throttle le ver when trying to steer away fr om objects — yo u need thr ottle to steer . A collision could result in se vere injury or death. ● When operating at higher speeds, make gradual turns or slow down before turning .
3-32 E EJU18501 Stopping the water craft The watercraft is not equipped with a sep- arate braking system. It is stopped by w ater resistance when the throttle le ver is released.
3-33 E EJU10810 Beaching the water craft 1. Make sure no obstructions, boats or s wimmers are near the beach. Release the throttle lev er about 10 0 m (330 ft) bef ore you reach the intended beaching area. 2. Approach the beach slowly and stop the engine before reaching land.
3-34 E EJU12541 Re verse on waterwa ys (for VX110 Deluxe) Re verse can be used f or slow-speed maneuvering when it is ne cessary to back up out of tight spots where you cannot tur n around. Rev erse can only b e used to slow down or stop duri ng slo w-speed maneuv er- ing, such as when docking.
3-35 E EJU13841 P ost-operation chec ks Alwa ys perform the following post-opera- tion chec ks after operating the watercr aft. 1. Remov e the watercraft from the w ater . 2. W ash down the hull, handlebars, and jet unit with fresh water . 3. Remov e the seat and check the engine compar tment f or water .
3-36 E 7. If the watercra ft w ill be stored f or a week or more, lubricate inter nal engine com- ponents to help prev ent co rrosion. (See page 4-3 f or lubr ication procedures.) 8. Rinse the engine and engine compar t- ment with a small a mount of w ater .

Remov e the flushing hose connector cap 1 , and then i nsert the garden hose adapter 2 into the flu s h ing hose con- nector 3 and tur n it until it is securely connected.
