INTRODUCTION Introduction Congratulations on y our purc hase of the Uniden UCIS 3000 corded telephone. This phone is designed for r eliability , long life, and outstanding performance. Note: Some illustrations in this manual may differ fr om the actual unit for explanation purposes.
When using telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should alwa ys be follow ed to reduce the r isk of fire, electric shock and injury to per sons, including the f ollowing: 1. Read and understand all instr uctions in the owner’ s manual. 2. F ollow all war nings and instructions marked on the prod- uct.
5 Checking the Package Contents Make sure y ou have receiv ed the f ollowing items in the package. •T elephone •A C/DC Adapter •W all Mount Bracket • Handset Cord •S even F oot Line Cord • Handset Make sure y ou have a modular wall jac k near the place you have c hosen to install the unit.
6 First T ime Installation 1. Connect the adapter . Plug the large part of the adapter into the wall outlet and the adapter tip to the jack at the r ear side of unit. (Use only 9V DC, 200mA, center positive Class 2 adapter .) 2. Connect the telephone line cord.
7 Data Port This is a connection which is in par allel with the telephone line. It allows the connection of Device suc h as a modem, caller ID or an answ er ing machine.
8 5. When “ SET LDS CODE ” appear s, press REVIEW UP ▲ button to c hang e the long distance code from -, 0, 1, 2, ~9. When you are f in- ished, Press DIAL . The display will indicate as sho wn (Stand-By Screen) and be read y to receive incoming calls.
Pulse And T one Dialing 1. If your home is equipped with a touc h tone dialing sys- tem, set the TONE switch to the T one position. 2. If your home is equipped with a rotary (pulse) dialing system, set the PULSE switch to the Pulse position. 3. If you are unsur e which system y ou have, set the switc h to the TONE position.
10 BY ou can adjust the volume of the caller’ s v oice by slid- ing the VOLUME CONTROL on the right side of the phone. CA fter the conv er sation has finished, press the SPEAKERPHONE button to hang up. 2. T o Make A Call AP r ess and release the SPEAKERPHONE button.
11 To Store A Phone Number In Memory: 1. Press the STORE button, “ MEMOR Y STORING ” appear s on the display windo w . 2. Dial the number you want to stor e in memor y . 3. Press STORE again. 4. Press the desire memory location. •T o store in an auto memory button (located on r ight- hand side of base) – Press 1,2,3 or 10).
12 Pause Button The P AUSE button allows you to insert a 3.6 second pause in the dialing sequence. This is par ticularly useful if y ou are con- nected to a P ABX system where you must dial an access code (usually the number 9) to obtain an outside line.
13 The CALL W AITING (CW) sym- bol will f lash for 16 seconds along with the telephone number and name of the per- son who is on call waiting. Press the FLASH button to put the e xisting call on hold and an- sw er the new call.
14 Caller ID Service and Call W aiting Caller ID Service The “caller identification” service (Caller ID) allows the call- er’ s phone number and/or name to be shown on the display as the call comes in befor e you pick up the phone.
15 If Y ou Ar e In A Area Where An FSK Signal Is Not A vailable: 1. This unit will chec k your line for a stutter dial tone ev er y time you hang up or eac h time a call goes unans wered. The MESSAGE indicator will f lash when there is a mes- sage waiting.
16 3. If the NEW symbol is still f lashing when the display g oes back to the Stand-By screen, there are ne w calls that y ou have not y et reviewed. 4. The review ed number can be stored into an y of the auto memor y buttons or ke ypad memor y locations b y press- ing the STORE button fir st, then one of the memor y but- tons.
17 If “ SET AREA CODE ” appear pr ior to “ PICKUP PHONE… ” o r dialing, it means you have not prog rammed the local area code. Please hang up the telephone and prog ram the area code.
18 If a long distance call, and its 10-digit number is displayed, 1. Pressing OPTIONS once will change it to an 11-digit n umber (1 + 3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone n umber). 2. Pressing OPTIONS twice will remov e the 3-digit area code and chang e to display only the 7-digit telephone number .
19 Resetting Y our T elephone’s Programming Resetting your telephone’ s pr ogramming will clear the area code and all of the calls from call memory but your prepr ogrammed Memory Buttons will not be deleted. Y ou may wish to write any important numbers down before perf or ming a reset.
• HI/LO W/OFF r inger s witch is set to OFF position • Line cord is disconnected at telephone outlet or at telephone end. • Phone is OFF HOOK. Make certain the hook switch is depressed when the handset is in the cradle. • SPEAKERPHONE indicator is on.
•V erify that you have subscribed to the appropriate ser vice (Caller ID and Call W aiting Caller ID) from your telephone compan y . If y ou onl y subscribed to the Caller ID ser vice, this unit will not display the call w aiting caller ID information.
