2 Impor tant Safety Instructions SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS This manual contains important instructions that should be followed during the installation, operation and storage of all T ripp Lite UPS Systems. Failure to heed these warnings will v oid your warranty .
3 Quic k Installation Plug the UPS into a wall outlet supplying either 120V or 230V (nominal) A C power . Use the included detachable power cord. The IEC-320 end connects to the A C input receptacle on the rear of the UPS; the NEMA 5-15 end connects to the wall outlet.
4 Optional Installation These connections are optional. Y our UPS will function properly without these connections. USB and RS-232 Serial Communications Use the included USB cable (see ) and/or DB9 serial cable (see ) to connect the communication port on your equipment to the communication port of your UPS.
5 “ON/OFF/ST ANDBY” Button • T o turn the UPS ON: with the UPS plugged into a li ve A C wall outlet*, press and hold the “ON/OFF/ST ANDBY” button for one second.** Release the but- ton. If utility power is absent, you can “cold-start” the UPS (i.
6 Basic Operation continued Indicator Lights (Front P anel) All Indicator Light descriptions apply when the UPS is plugged into a wall outlet and turned ON. “PO WER” LED: this green LED lights continuously when the UPS is ON and supplying connected equipment with A C power from a utility source.
7 Basic Operation continued Other UPS Features (Rear P anel) 15 amp/120V NEMA 5-15R A C Receptacles: Y our UPS features 15-amp AC outlets. These output recep- tacles, provide your connected equipment with A C line power during normal operation and battery power during black outs and brownouts.
8 Storage and Service Storage Before storing your UPS, turn it completely OFF: with the UPS ON and receiving utility po wer, press and hold the "ON/OFF/ST ANDBY" button for one second (an alarm will beep once briefly after the interval has passed); then, unplug the UPS from the w all outlet.
9 Battery Replacement Under normal conditions, the original batteries in your UPS will last many years. See Safety section before replacing ba tteries.
