General Description The TOA D-5.5 is a 1 9 " rackmount or console configuration, eight-input stereo mixer especially designed for electronic music and sound. It is expandable to a 32-input mixing system, with group, stereo and mono outputs, and 1 6 MI DI-T HRU jacks, when combined with two D-5.
System Features: Each Input Channel Feature: 8×4×2×1 configuration: 8 inputs; 4 su b groups; stereo L & R; mono sum. Expandable to 3 2 inputs with two 1 2 input D-5.
Features Stereo L & R Features: Sum Connections: 2-color L ED indicator for signal presence (green) and clip (red). Channel on/off switch with L ED indicator (orange). Writing block. 6 0 mm fader. Cue switch. REAR PANEL: Other Connections: L & R C ue input: 1/4" phone jacks.
Front Panel (D-5.5) INPUT CHANNEL (D-5.5) Phono EQ (RIAA) IN/OUT Switch (RIAA IN/OUT) Thi s switch is available for input channels 7 and 8 only and is active when a turntable with magnetic type cartrige i s connected to the Phono input channel. Th e switch is a "push-in push-out" type.
The D-5.5 incorporates two, switchable MIDI inputs and four MID I THRU outputs . With the D-5.5E, s ix additional M ID I TH RU outputs ar e available. MIDI LED Indicator (MIDI I N) This yellow LED indicates the presence of MID I data a t t he MI DI input jack on the rear panel (MIDI I N) .

Group Fader (GROUP 1 - 4) Th e 6 0mm fader provides continuously variable adjustment o f the group level to th e stereo L an d R busses, and the gro up out put connectors.
Level Control f or Effect an d Reverb Return to Aux 1 (REV/EFF TO AUX, LEVEL AUX 1 ) Th is control governs the amount of reverb signal (built-in or outboard) returned through the reverb return jack ( RE V RET), and effect signal returned through t he effect return jac k (EF F RET) to AU X 1 mixin g bus s.
RCA Stereo L & R Post Accessory Patch Points (POST IN/OUT) These RCA pin jacks ar e unba- lanced, with a nominal level o f — 10dB. Input jack impedance is 10 k ohms, and o utput jack impe- dance is 1k ohms. The Accessory jacks allow signal processing and effect devices to be inserted into the signal path.

Difference i n functions are explained. Power LED indicator and Switch (POWER) Th e power sw itch alternately turns AC power t o the D-5.
AC Power Cor d (6 ft.) Pushbutton Circuit Breaker (1A) (PUSH RESET) Th is breaker i s designed to protect the D-5.5E in the event o f internal or external fault. Wait about two mi- nutes after co rrecting the fault and push t he button to reset the system a nd restore proper operation.

Rack Mounting Instructions The D-5.5 and D-5.5E are designed fo r either console or rack-mount use, using a pair o f brackets (included). T h e following procedure should be observed for the rack-mount use. 1 . Remove both side panels and armrest unscrewing and removing 6 screws.
