This device will not sense smok e unless the ventilation s ys- tem is operating and the co ver is installed. F or this detector to function pr operly , it MUST be installed according to the instructions in this manual. F urthermore , the detector MUST be operated within ALL electrical and environmental specifications listed in this manual.

NO TE: An alternate method to using the ST -1 0 is to use two ST -5 sampling tubes. R emo ve the flange from one of the tubes and install as described abov e . After the installation, use electrical tape to close off some of the sampling holes so that there ar e a total of 1 0 to 12 holes spaced as evenly as possible across the width of the duct.
