20 Recor ding an MD right away! This sect ion expl ains the bas ic procedure for making digi tal recordi ngs using an op tical cable connected to a CD player , Digital TV or other digital eq uipment. F or other re cording oper ations, see “V arious ways of rec ording” (page 27).

41 Dividing a track (Divide) Y ou can divide a trac k wi th a track mark , crea ting a new track f rom the part follo wing the tr ack mark. Y ou can also make f ine adjust ments to the track mark position before making the actual division. This function c an be set wit h th e reco rd e r only .
42 T o add track ma rks whil e recording (except while synchro-recording) Press T MAR K on the r ecor der (p ress P-MODE/ on th e remote control) at the point you wa nt to add a tr ack mark. 43 Erasing tracks and a whole disc contents (Erase) Y ou can er ase unne ce ssary t ra cks or al l tracks in a disc. Notes • When you erase groups , see page 51. • Y ou cannot erase tracks that hav e been checked out fro m your co mpu ter . Y ou cannot erase a n enti re disc i f it co ntains a chec ked-out track .

45 Using t he g rou p func tion What is the group function? The group func tion is pro vided to allo w play back of di scs with gr oup sett ings. The grou p functi on is c on ven i e nt for pl aybac k of MDs on which se veral alb ums or CD single s have been recor de d in MD LP (LP2/LP4) mode.

85 What is a Net MD? Net MD is a stand ard tha t enables th e transf er of audio data from a compute r to a MiniDisc de vice. T o use this Net MD wi th your computer requires a so ftware applic ation called “Son icSt age”.
