Chapter 1: Overview Chapter 1: Overview This chapter provides you the descript ion for the LED and con nector for fron t and rear view of the router . Before you use/ins ta ll this router , please take a look at this information first.

Chapter 2:System R equirement an d Installation C h a p t e r 2 : System Requirement and Installation System Requir em en t T o access the ADSL Router via Etherne t, the host compute r must meet the followi ng re quirements: W ith Ether ne t network interfa ce.
Connecting the ADSL Router Follow the steps below to co nnec t the relate d dev ices. n Connecting the ADSL line. Connect the DSL port of the device to your ADSL wall outlet wi th RJ-1 1 cable. o Pl ease att ach one end of the Ethe rnet cabl e with RJ-4 5 connecto r to the LAN port of your ADSL Router .
Chapter 3: Configuration For connecting thro ugh a hub, please refe r to the following diagra m for an example. Install the USB Driver For Windows ME n Run the USB installa tio n program from the CD provided b y your device pac kage. o An InstallShield W izard will appear .
o An InstallShield W izard will appear . Please wait for a moment. p When the welcome screen appears, click Next for next step. q When th e Instal lShield W izard Complete appears , click Finish .

The second way: n Choose Settings –Control Pan el from the St a r t menu. Choose Add/Remove Pr ograms . o A dialog appears to a sk you choose the prog r am that you want to rem ove. Please select Siemens ADSL Router USB Dr iver and click Change/Re move .

When returning to Network window , highlight TCP/ IP protocol for your NIC and click Properties . 7. On IP Address tab: Enab le Specify an IP address option.

Chapter 3: Configuration For Windows 2000 1. From the Sta rt menu, point to Se ttings and then click N etwork and Dial-up Connections. 2. Right-click th e Local Area Connection icon and then click Properties . 3. On the Genera l tab, check out the list of installed ne twork compone nts.
4. Highlight Protocol and the n click Add . 5. Click Interne t Protocol (T CP /IP) and then click OK. 6. When returnin g to Local Area Connection Properti es window, highlight Interne t Prot oc ol (TCP/IP ) and then clic k P roperties. 7. Under the General tab, enable Use the following IP Address .

Configure PC to g et IP address from DHCP If your ADSL Router oper ate s as a DHCP server for the c lient PCs on the LAN, you sho uld configure the clie nt PCs to obtain a dyna mic IP address. Please foll ow the previous section to ins tall TCP/IP component.
Chapter 3: Configuration For Windows NT On the IP Address tab, click on the drop-down arrow of Adapter to select required adapter. Enable Obtain an IP address from a DHC P server and the n click OK .. When prompte d with the message be low, click Yes to continue.
For Windows XP On the IP Address tab, select Obtain an IP address automatically . The n cli ck OK . Renew IP Address on Clien t PC There is a chance that y our PC does not renew its IP address after the ADSL Rou ter is on line and the PC cannot acc ess the Internet.
Chapter 3: Configuration 3. When the figure be low appe ars, click Release and then Renew to get an IP address. For Windows NT 1. Select Run from the Start menu. 2. Select Run from the Start menu. 3. Type cmd in the dial og box and the cl ick OK . 4. Type ipconfig at prompt.
For Windows 2000 1. From t he Start menu, point to Programs , Accessori es and then click Command Pr ompt . 2. Type ipconfig at prompt. Then you will see the IP informatio n from DHCP server. 3. If you want to get a new IP address, type ipconfig /release to release the previous IP address and then type ipconfig /renew to get a new one.

Chapter 5:Connection Mode Outline of Web Manager For configure the web page, please use adm in as the username and the password. The main screen will be shown as below . Tit le : It indicates the title of this manage ment interface. Main Menu : Includes Quick S tart, Status, Advanced an d Ma nagement.
Quick Star t The pages for the Q uic k Start pr o vide user a quick way to s et for the router . If you do not know more about the router , you can use the Quick Start pages to adj ust basic set tin gs to make your router activating.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode After clickin g on the Next button from the VPI/VCI web page, the following sc reen will appear . Please choose the co nnection type and encapsulatio n m ode that yo u wa nt to use and click Next for next page. For example, PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) in this screen is sele cted.
PPP over ATM/ PPP over Ethernet If the type you choose is PPP over A TM or PPP over Ethernet, please refer to the following information. According to the ISP’ s configuration on the server , you can choose PPPoE and PPPoA modes.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode PPP Username: T ype in the user name that you got from your ISP . PPP Password: T ype in the pas sword that you got from yo ur ISP . Always On: Check this but ton to make the c onnection is always active. Dial on Demand: Click this butt on to make a connec tio n while in demand.
PCs. S tart IP Address: T ype in the start point IP address. End IP Addr ess: T ype in the end po int IP address. Leased Tim e: T ype in the dur ation for the time . The de fau lt is 1d ay . DHCP Server Off: Check this item if DHCP servi ce isn’ t needed on the LAN.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode IP over ATM If the type you have to choose is IP over A TM, please r efe r to the following inf ormation. IPoA is an alternative of LAN emulat ion. It allows TCP/IP network to acc ess A TM network and us es A TM quality of servic e’ s features.
In the Configure LAN side Settings web page, you have to fil l in the data r eques ted here. Primary IP Addr ess: T ype in the first IP address that you got from your ISP for y our LAN connection. Subnet Mask : T ype in the subnet ma sk that you got from your ISP for y our LAN connection.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Now , the system will reboot to activa te the new settings that you have do ne in this section. Please wait for 2 minutes for resta rtin g the router .
Bridging If the type you choose is Bridging , plea se refer to the foll o wing information. The bridging mode ca n config ure your router to send packets received on any por t such as A TM PVC or Ethernet wi th a broadcast MAC address to all other ports.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Primary IP Address: T ype in the I P address that you got fr om your ISP for LAN inter face. Subnet Mask : T ype in the subnet ma sk that you got from your ISP for LAN interface. MTU: It means the maximum size of the packet that transmitte d in the network.
Status Overview This page is displayi ng the cur r ent status for the DSL connection. It includes if the lists the LAN IP address, defa ult gateway , DNS servers IP address, firmware version, the period of act ivating the router , and so on. The sys tem status will be chan ged according to t he settings that you con figured in the web pages.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode ADSL Line This page sho ws all information f or ADSL. For knowing t he quality of the ADSL connection, ple ase click ADSL BE R T est button to have advanced infor mation. Click More I nformation to show more detailed infor mation abou t ADSL Line Sta t u s.
When the test i s over , the result will be shown on the following dialog for your reference. Click Close to clos e thi s dialog. Internet Connection This page displays the connec ti on information for your r outer , such as PVC name, c atego ry , pro toco l, invoki ng NA T or not, IP address, link status and so on.

Advanced Setup Local Network- I P Address This page is th e same as you can see in the Configur e LAN side Settings page while r unning the Quick Se t up . It allows y ou to set IP Address and Subnet Mask va lues for LAN interface. Primary IP Addr ess: T ype in the first IP address that you got from your ISP for y our LAN connection.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode DHCP Serv er On: Check this item if DHCP service is needed on the LAN. The router will assign IP address, gatew ay address for each of yo ur PCs. S tart IP Address: T ype in the start point IP address. End IP Addr ess: T ype in the end po int IP address.
The new one wil l be shown on the dia l og right away . That is, the specified address will be reserved and no t be assigned by DH CP for other computer .
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Local Network – UPnP The UPnP i s available only for W indows XP . If you are not user of W indows XP , this page does not have any meaning to you. This page all ows you to enab le the UPnP function throu gh the web pag e for your router .
If you choose Non Rea ltime VBR, you have to type in the fol lowing data. The range for Peak Cell Rate is from 1 to 1690. The range for Sustainable Cell Rate is from 1 to 1689 and m ust be smaller than Pea k Cel l Rate . The range for Maximum Bur st Size is from 1 to 100.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Internet-DNS Server If Enable Aut omatic Assig ned DN S checkbox is selecte d, this router will accept the first received DNS assignment from one of the PPP oA, PPPo E or MER/DHCP enabled PVC(s) during the connection esta blishment.
Internet - ADSL Settings Enable ADSL Port: Check this box to enable this functio n. It simply invokes the line mode that you choose here for the router . Select the support of line modes: There are several sele ctions for your choosing. S elect the one that you need.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Allow you to r emove the selected s tatic route settings. Addin g a Ne w One T o add a static r oute , please choose S tatic Route - Add. T ype the destination ne tw ork address, subnet mask and gate w ay that you get fr om ISP and click Apply .
For a router w ith a direct connection t o the Router’ s local Router , the Gateway IP Address is the address of the Router ’ s local router . For routers which must forward packe ts to another router before reac hing the Ro uter’ s local router, the Gateway IP Address i s the addr ess of the intermedi ate router .

Virtual Serv er-Port Forwarding The Router implemen ts NA T to let your enti re local network appear as a sing le m achine to the Internet . The typical situ ation is that you have lo cal serv ers for different servic es and you want to make them public ly accessible.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode IP Address seen by Internet Us ers Please note that, in the above picture, both Interne t users are connecting to the same IP address, but using diff ere nt protoco ls. T o Internet users, all virtua l servers on your LAN have the same IP Address.
From In te rnet Host IP Address: Select the initial place for port forwarding. If you choose SING LE, a box will appear for you to fill in the IP address for the sp ecific host. And, if you choose SUBNET , t he boxes of IP and Subnet will appear f or yo u to fill in the IP address and subnet mask for the specific host as the start point.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Or define by yourself by typing the words into the field of U s er defined. Click Apply to complete the sett i ng. Virtual Serv er - DMZ Host Direct Mapping Zone (DMZ) uses a technology that ma kes Router forwardin g all incom ing packe t to internal specific server .
Virtual Serv er - Dynamic DNS The Dynamic D N S (Dynamic Domain N asme System) combines both fu nct ions of DNS and D HCP to map a dynam ic IP into a fixed domai n name. This page allows you to acc ess into virtual servers with a domain name and pass w ord.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Firewall The firewall is a software that interrup ts the data betwe e n the Internet and your compu ter . It is the TCP/IP equivalent of a security gate a t the entrance to your com pany .
Then, to add a new IP Filtering, click Add . This page pr ovides some se ttings for you t o adjust for adding a new outboun d IP Filtering. Allow T raffic: No stops the data transmission, Ye s lets the data pass through. Protoc ol: Here provide s everal default po licies for security leve ls for you to choose.

Chapter 5:Connection Mode Manage ment Diagnostics T o check the li nk s tatus for the netw ork a nd your computer , a diagnostic te st can guide yo u to de tect the network prob lem. The testing items ar e listed and accom plished one by one. If the previous one is failed, than the items below that failed one w ill be failed too.
Admin Account This page all ows you to type in t he password for accessing int o your DSL Router . For the Adm in Ac coun t , the default setting for user password is admin . If you w ant to change the usernam e and the passw or d, please retype the new password in the Confirm field for confirmation.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Interntet Time The router’ s clock must synchro nize with global I nternet’ s time. The time yo u set in the screen will be adapted to system log. Update: Click this butt on t o refresh the current time. Set Time by: The default se tting is Manual.
There are 8 typ es for lo g level and displa y level for your cho ose. The defa ult is Debugging . The mode selec tio n includes Loc al , Remote and Both . The default one is Loca l. If you choose Remote or Both , all t he event s will be sent to the specif ied UD P port of the specified log server .
