7 Batt er y inser tion and remo val Handling the batter y Remov e the t ab on your batt er y only when you ar e ready t o use it. Inser ting the batter y Open the batter y compar tment with your fingernail as sho wn in the illustration. Swivel open the batt er y compar t- ment door , if not alr eady open.
Lo w batter y indicator Y our hearing system ma y be prog rammed to inf orm you when the batter y should be replaced f or best system per f or- mance. Y ou ma y hear an intermitt ent series of beeps and/or experience low am plification power or volume.
9 Caution: K eep batteries and instruments a wa y from the reach of small children. Batteries can be harmful if swallo wed. If swallo wed, consult a ph ysician or a hospital immedia- tely . Change the batteries when an y of the follo wing occur: - V olume becomes softer or weak.
10 Batt er y com par tment door lock Y our instrument is equipped with a batter y compar tment door lock t o pre vent the unint entional remo val of the batteries. T o lock the batt er y compar tment, open the compar tment door to the first stop. Push the slide t o the right with a suitable tool.
11 Inser ting and remo ving y our CENTRA BTE Mak e sure that your hearing instrument is turned of f. Hold the earmold betw een your thumb and index finger and inser t it carefully into y our ear canal. Y ou may find it helpful to pull y our ear slightly upward or t o the back.
12 T urning y our CENTRA BTE ON and OFF Via the batter y compar tment Y our CENTRA hearing system turns on aut omatically when a batter y is inser ted and the compartment door is complet ely closed. T o turn OFF Press the batt er y compar tment in the rear do wn to the first st op to turn the hearing instrument OFF .
13 Y our hearing instrument specialist can also pr ogram y our hearing system t o be turned ON and OFF using the pr ogram butt on. Via the push button T o turn your hearing instrument OFF , pr ess and hold the pr o- gram butt on f or appro ximately 2 seconds.
14 e2e wireless TM f or CENTRA hearing syst ems Unique t o your CENTRA hearing system is the e2e (ear -t o-ear) wireless t echnology . This wir eless functionality ... ... automatically adjusts bo th of your hearing instru- ments simultaneously to differ ent listening situations.
15 Wireless remote control – ePock et (accessor y) The e2e wireless function of y our CENTRA hearing system supports ePock e t, the bi-dir ectional remo te contr ol fr om Siemens. With ePock e t, you can c hange the program and volume of y our hearing system and read out the syst em settings.
16 Using the prog ram button Ho w to select the programs Y our CENTRA hearing system of fers up t o four hearing pr o- grams f or specific listening en vi- r onments. They c hange the cha- racteristics of the sound coming thr ough the hearing system. Se- lect a pr ogram using the pr ogram button of y our hearing aid or by attaching an audio shoe.
17 T elephone coil: When you hold a telephone r eceiver t o your CENTRA hearing instrument, the telephone pr ogram Aut o- Phone is automatically activat ed by the magne tic field of the receiv er . Ask your hearing instrument specialist about these functio- nalities and he will pr ogram y our CENTRA hearing system to your individual needs.
18 Using the directional microphone syst em Y our CENTRA hearing system has a dir ectional microphone system, whic h can be programmed t o your individual needs.
19 Using the v olume control All CENTRA hearing systems ha ve manu- al volume contr ol, ex cept the CENTRA S. In general, volume contr ol of CENTRA hearing systems is fully aut omatic and there is no need t o manually adjust the volume.
20 A udio input Y our hearing system is eq uipped with audio input capability . This enables the connection betw een the hearing system and accessories such as an FM syst em, t ape recor der , t elevision-, or an infrared de vice. It can be useful for adults in difficult lis- tening situations and f or childr en in classr ooms.
21 Safety instructions for hearing sy stems with audio input The audio input ma y be connected t o line-operated equipment only if the equipment fulfills the saf ety r equirement IEC 65 / DIN VDE 0860. Bef ore the audio shoe can be attached to the hearing syst em, the f ollowing steps ha ve t o be fulfilled: 1.
22 Using the t elephone Automatic telephone prog ram With the AutoPhone function, y our CENTRA hearing system will aut o- matically switch t o the telephone pr ogram when y ou hold a hearing- instrument-compatible t elephone receiv er to y our hearing instrument.
23 Note: Magnets can pose risks t o electr onics and magnetic st orage mediums when placed in close pr o ximity . T ake car e not t o set magne ts near comput ers, color monitors, t elevision se ts, floppy discs, cr edit cards, video/audio tapes, and ot her elec- tr onic equipment.
24 Maint enance and care Y our new CENTRA hearing syst em is a highly sensitive syst em. Pr oper care and handling will ensur e the best possible per formance. Ear wax may accumulat e on your earmold. If no t cleaned regu- larly you can damage the hearing syst em or cause health pro- blems.
25 Im por t ant not es • Nev er expose your hearing syst em to extr eme temperatur es or high humidity . Do not st ore it in dir ect sunlight. Do not wear it when taking a show er or when applying hairspra y . • As with all electrical, non gas-encapsulat ed systems, the hearing system must no t be operated in explosion- endangered r ooms.
