7 Batter y inser tion and removal Handling the batter y Remove the tab on y our battery only when you ar e ready to use it. Inserting the batter y Open the battery compar tment with your fingernail as shown in the illustration. Swivel open the battery compart- ment door , if not alr eady open.
Low battery indicator Y our hearing system ma y be programmed t o inform you when the battery should be replaced for best syst em per f or- mance. Y ou may hear an int ermittent series of beeps and/or experience low amplification po wer or volume. Change the battery when either of these occurs.
9 Caution: K eep batteries and instruments aw ay from the reac h of small children. Batteries can be harmful if swallo wed. If swallo wed, consult a ph ysician or a hospital immedia- tely . Change the batteries when an y of the following occur: - V olume becomes sof ter or weak.
10 Batter y compar tment door lock Y our instrument is equipped with a battery compar tment door lock t o pre vent the unintentional r emoval of the batteries. T o lock the battery compar tment, open the compartment door to the first stop. Push the slide t o the right with a suitable tool.
11 Inser ting and remo ving y our CENTRA BTE Make sur e that your hearing instrument is turned off. Hold the earmold between y our thumb and index finger and insert it carefully into y our ear canal. Y ou may find it helpful to pull y our ear slightly upward or t o the back.
12 T urning y our CENTRA BTE ON and OFF Via the batter y compartment Y our CENTRA hearing system turns on aut omatically when a battery is inser ted and the compartment door is complet ely closed. T o turn OFF Press the batt er y compartment in the rear down t o the first stop to turn the hearing instrument OFF .
13 Y our hearing instrument specialist can also program y our hearing system t o be turned ON and OFF using the program butt on. Via the push button T o turn your hearing instrument OFF , press and hold the pr o- gram button f or approximat ely 2 seconds.
14 e2e wireless TM f or CENTRA hearing syst ems Unique to y our CENTRA hearing system is the e2e (ear-t o-ear) wireless t echnology . This wireless functionality ... ... aut omatically adjusts both of your hearing instru- ments simultaneously to different list ening situations.
15 Wireless remote control – ePock et (accessor y) The e2e wireless function of y our CENTRA hearing system supports ePock et, the bi-directional remo te control fr om Siemens. With ePock et, you can change the pr ogram and volume of your hearing syst em and read out the syst em settings.
16 Using the program butt on How to select the prog rams Y our CENTRA hearing system offers up to f our hearing pro- grams f or specific listening envi- ronments. The y change the cha- racteristics of the sound coming through the hearing syst em. Se- lect a program using the pr ogram button of y our hearing aid or by attaching an audio shoe.
17 T elephone coil: When you hold a t elephone receiver t o your CENTRA hearing instrument, the telephone pr ogram Aut o- Phone is automatically activat ed by the magnetic field of the receiver . Ask your hearing instrument specialist about these functio- nalities and he will program y our CENTRA hearing system to your individual needs.
18 Using the directional microphone syst em Y our CENTRA hearing system has a dir ectional microphone system, which can be pr ogrammed to your individual needs.
19 Using the v olume control All CENTRA hearing systems ha ve manu- al volume contr ol, excep t the CENTRA S. In general, volume contr ol of CENTRA hearing systems is fully aut omatic and there is no need t o manually adjust the volume.
20 A udio input Y our hearing system is equipped with audio in put capability . This enables the connection between the hearing syst em and accessories such as an FM system, tape r ecorder , tele vision-, or an infrared de vice. It can be useful for adults in difficult lis- tening situations and f or children in classr ooms.
21 Safety instructions for hearing systems with audio in put The audio input ma y be connected to line-operat ed equipment only if the equipment fulfills the saf ety req uirement IEC 65 / DIN VDE 0860. Befor e the audio shoe can be attached to the hearing syst em, the follo wing steps hav e to be fulfilled: 1.
22 Using the telephone Automatic telephone program With the AutoPhone function, y our CENTRA hearing system will aut o- matically switch to the t elephone program when y ou hold a hearing- instrument-compatible telephone receiver t o your hearing instrument.
23 Note: Magnets can pose risks to electr onics and magnetic st orage mediums when placed in close pro ximity. T ake car e not t o set magne ts near computers, color monit ors, television se ts, floppy discs, credit car ds, video/audio t apes, and o ther elec- tronic equipment.
24 Maintenance and care Y our new CENTRA hearing syst em is a highly sensitive system. Proper car e and handling will ensure the best possible performance. Ear wax ma y accumulate on your earmold. If not cleaned r egu- larly you can damage the hearing syst em or cause health pro- blems.
25 Impor tant not es • Never e xpose your hearing system t o extreme temperatur es or high humidity . Do not stor e it in direct sunlight. Do not wear it when taking a shower or when applying hairspra y . • As with all electrical, non gas-encapsulated systems, the hearing system must no t be operated in explosion- endangered r ooms.
26 T roubleshoo ting tips Y our CENTRA hearing system is an extr emely reliable device. Howe ver , should a problem occur , it can usually be corrected quickly .
