The NAS will reset all the system settings to defaul t as it does by web - based system reset in “Administration” > “Restore to Factory Def ault” except all the d ata ar e reserved.

23 Chapter 4. LED and Alarm B uzzer Specifications The LED indicators of the NAS indicate the system status and infor m ation. When the NAS is turned on, chec k the follow ing item s to m ake sure the syste m statu s i s normal.

26 Chapter 5. Upgrade Memory on QNAP Turbo NAS (RAM Module Installation) Warn ing : ! Th e following instr u ctions should only be performed by an authorized and trained technician. ! Strictl y adhere to the instructions t o install a RAM module on the NAS.
27 3. Loosen the three screws on the rear of the NAS. 4. Remove the case co ver of the NAS gently. 5. Locate the mem ory slot. Make sure the slot is empty. Note : For TS/SS - x53 Pro, TS - 651 and TS - 851 models, a lw ays e nsure t hat a memory mo dule i s in stalled in the Pr imary slot (re d).
28 6. Grasp the e dge of the memory module. Align the notc h on t he gold edg e of the modul e with the no tch i n the memory sl ot. Slide the memo ry module to the sl ot at a 45 - degree angle (approx imately ). 7. Gently pres s the memory m odule into the slot until it is seat ed fu lly.
29 5.2 TS - x69U - RP /SP series (4/8/12 - bay) Follow the steps below to install a RAM module on the NAS. 1. Turn off t he NAS. Disconnect the power adapt or, network cable(s), and any other connectors or cables from the NAS. 2. Before ins talling the memory module, put on an antis tatic wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge.
30 4. Open th e NAS. 5. Slide the m emory module to the slot at a 45 - degree angle (approxi m ately) . 6. Press the memory module down while holding the clips open .
31 7. Make su re the memor y modul e sits i n properl y wit h the cli ps in pl ace. 8. Close th e NAS cove r and fasten the sc rews. Connect the power adapt or and cables back to the N AS.
32 5.3 TS - 879U - RP, TS - 1279U - RP, TS - EC879U - RP, TS - EC1279U - RP , TS - 1679U - RP, TS - EC1679U - RP , TS - 870U - RP, TS - 1270U - RP QNAP p rovide s a 4 GB DD R3* RA M modul e and a 4GB DDR3 ECC** RAM modul e (optional purchase) for users to upgrade the m emory of th e NAS.
33 2. Hold t he not ch at the edge of the top cov er . Remove the top cover in bo th hands. 3. Release t he ejector cl ips gent ly by pulling them out of the sides of the RAM slot .
34 4. Grasp the e dge of the RAM modul e . Align the notch on the gold edge of the RAM modul e with th e notch in the RAM slo t . Inse rt the RA M module to the RAM s lot un til it cannot go any further.
35 5.4 TS - 251, TS - 451 Follow the steps below to install a RAM module on the NAS. 1. Turn off t he NAS. Disconnect the power adapt or, network cable(s), and any other connectors/cables from the NAS. 2. Remove any i nstalled hard drives from the NAS.
36 5. Gently remove the case cover of the NAS by slidi ng it apart (see the underside of the NAS for visua l indi cators of the NAS case being l ocked/unl ocked) 6. Remove the f our inner scr ews (t wo on e ach s ide) of the ha rd drive cage. 7. If it is a 4 - bay NAS, you w ill also need to remove two scr ews on the top of the har d drive cage.
37 8. Gently remove the hard drive cage from the NAS by l ifting i t out of its sl ot . 9. Always ensure that a memory m odule i s installed in the Primary slot (red) .
38 10. Reattach the hard drive cage to the NAS. Please ensur e that it corr ectly plugs into the slot . 11. Secure the hard dr ive cage by fastenin g the four inner s crews (for the 4 - bay NAS, please fast en the two additional top screws.) Then re at tach the case cover of the NAS by gently sl iding it back together .
39 Chapter 6. Network Expansion Card Installation Warn ing : ! The following instr ucti ons should only be performed by an authorized and trained technician. ! 43 7. Fasten the screws. 8. Close the case cover an d fasten the scre ws. Connect the power adaptor and cables to the NAS. 9. To c heck that the network expansion i s recognized by the NAS, power up the NAS and login the web inte rface as a n admin istrator.

47 9. Grasp th e m etal edge of the riser card module. Align the notc h on the gold ed ge of the riser card with the notch in th e PCIe slot. Insert the riser card mod ule to the PCIe slot until it cannot go any further. 10. Fasten the screws. Clo se the case cover and fasten the screws.
48 6.3 TS - 870U - RP, TS - 1270U - RP 1. Turn off the NAS. Disc onnect the power adaptor, network cable(s), and any other connectors or cables from the NAS. 2. Before installi ng the network expansion card, put on an antistatic wrist strap to prevent electrost atic discharge.

53 Chapter 8. RAID Recovery The QN AP NAS suppo rts exclusiv e RAID recovery technol ogy to recover a failed RAID disk volume from unintentional disconnection or rem oval of the hard d rives from the sys tem.

55 Chapter 9. Use the LCD Panel This featur e is only provided by the NAS models with LCD panels. Please vi sit http://www.qnap.com for details. The NAS provides a handy LCD panel for users to perform disk configuration and view th e system information.

62 4. Fasten the screw tightl y. 5. Turn on the NAS. Note: To replace a failed power supply unit, tur n off the NAS. Then remove the failed unit safely and repeat steps 3 - 5 above to i nstall a new power supply uni t.
63 10.2 TS - 469U - RP /SP Note: The fol lowing instructions shoul d only be per formed by an aut horized and trained technician. Follow the steps below to replace a fail ed power supply unit on the TS - 469U - RP /SP . 1. Turn off the NAS. 2. Press the green lever and remove the defective po wer supply unit .
64 Warn ing : The NAS supports replacing the redundant power supply unit without turning off the se rver when redun dant power supp ly m ode is enabled. Ho wever, users are strongly recommended to turn OFF the NAS before replacing the power supply unit to reduce the risk of ele ctric shock.
