Welcome 13 Line keys or speed dial keys are located on either side of the disp lay area and are labeled on the LCD display. Yo u can program these keys as either line or spee d dial keys (for one touch dial ing).

If you insert the foot stand into the upper slots, your IP Deskphone sits at a 25-degree angle.
Getting started 38 If you insert the foot stand into the lo wer slots, your IP Deskphone sits at a 55-degre e angle. 1. Align the bottom tabs on the foot stand with the p osition 1 slots or the position 2 slots on the back of your IP Deskphone. In position 1, the IP Deskphone sits at a 25-degree angle .
Getting started 39 Connecting AC power (optional) Your Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone suppor ts AC power and Power over Ethernet (PoE). For AC po wer, use only the Avaya-approved Globa l Power Supply (N014 6475) and the country-specific IEC cable that you can order separately.
Getting started 40 Connecting the PC Ethernet cable Connect a CAT5e PC Ethernet cabl e be tween your Avaya 1200 Seri es IP Deskphone and your computer to enab le your computer to access the LAN. 1. Plug one end of the PC Ethernet cable (not supplied) into the PC Ethernet port on the back of your IP Deskphone as shown in Figure 3 on page 37 .

If this is the case , after you plug in the IP Deskph one you can use it without further configuration.
Accessing the Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone 48 Password protec tion for domains This feature supports a dmin password protection for editing of the domain and is not requir ed for switching domains. If you log on using the administrato r password, yo u can use the editing domain o ption for both the Current Domain state and Domain List state.
Accessing the Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone 49 Password request in server settings mode When you edit the domain from the serv er settings under th e Network menu, you a re prompted to enter the admin password. After you enter the password, the Domain page ap pears.

Accessing the Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone 60 T o log off from a different desk phone Making an emer gency call You can use the Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone to make a n emergency call to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) from any accessible screen without logging on.
Accessing the Avaya 1200 Series IP Deskphone 61 and the IP Deskphone can only be used to make an eme rgency call. All context-sensitive soft keys and featur e keys are blank and unusable except for the second co ntext-sens itive soft key which allows you to switch between numeric and alphabetic ch aracters.

Your selection will be overwritten if the syst em administrator has configured the time zone differently.

Make a call by using one of the follo wing off-hook d ialing methods : — Press the Line feature key — Lift the handset — Press the Headset fixed key — Press the Handsfree fixed key The IP Deskphone produces a dial tone.
Making a call 79 Redial Msgs — Press the Redial context-sensitive soft key to dial the last dialed number. Note: The Redial context-sensitiv e soft key only appears if a n umber or addre ss was previously entered. — Press the Msgs context-sensitive soft key and select Voice Mail from the Messages menu to access your voice mail.
Making a call 80 Making a call using on-hook dialing You can make a call by using on-hook d ialing. Enter the SIP address o r the phone number befo re going off-hook. Note: When you use this method, you cannot toggle between alphabetic or nume ric input.

Making a call 85 Making a call using automatic callback You can set an au tomatic callback for a user that you have ca lled but who has not answered. When the user ne xt ends a call, the tele ph one system will call you and when you answer, will automatically make a call to the user.

Receivin g a call 88 Receiving a call When you receive a call, you are typica lly notified by the alerting ri ng, and the incoming caller identificati on appears on the LCD screen. Caller identification When you receive an incomi ng SIP call, the Caller ID information appears on the LCD screen.
Receiving a call 89 T o answer an incoming call: Ignoring an incoming call You can terminate an incomin g call alert without answering th e call or sending a Decline Call reason by pressing the Ignore context-sensitive soft key or by pressing the Goodbye fixed key.
Receivin g a call 90 T o igno re an incomin g call: Configuring Do Not Disturb You can use the Do Not Disturb feature to prevent incoming ca lls. T o prevent an incoming call: Prefs 1. Press the Prefs context-sensitive soft key, select Feature Options , an d then select Call Ignore Action from the menu.
Receiving a call 91 T o cancel Do Not Disturb: DND 2. Press the DND soft key. The screen displays Do Not Disturb? Yes 3. Press the Yes so ft key. The screen displays Do Not Disturb to indicate that the feature is activated.
Receivin g a call 92 Setting an inter val for after-call work The After Call Work featur e allows you to have an interval of time between disconnecting from one call and receiving ano ther incoming CCR Agent hunt group call. Receiving a call 93 Receiving intercom ca lls Your IP Deskphone can be part of an intercom group. After you receive a call from the intercom group, the following occurs: • You receive a call notification and th e IP Deskphon e rings; the display is similar to the disp lay of a norma l call.
Receivin g a call 94 • The IP Deskphone does not display context-sensitive soft keys. • The IP Deskphone blocks all key events, such as line keys and digit keys, except for the Vo lume up and down keys, the Mute on and off key, and the Releas e key (Goodbye k ey).
