6 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provide d with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, su ch as your PIN, any optional services available, and many others.
Section 1: Getting Started 7 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 3. Slide the SIM card into the SI M card socket so that the card locks into place. Make sure the gold contacts of th e card face into the phone. 4. Place the battery so tha t the tabs on the end alig n with the slots at the bottom o f the phone (1).
8 Section 1 Y ou can use the phone while th e battery is charging, but doing so wi ll require ad ditional charging t ime. Note: Y ou must fully char ge the battery before using your phone for the first time. A discharged battery recharges full y in approximatel y 200 minutes.

Section 3: Call Functions 29 Silent Mode Section 3 Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone fr om making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, pr ess and hold the key until the “Silent Mode On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) display .

46 Section 5 Changing the T ext Input Mode When using your ph one, you wi ll often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in your Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphan umeri c characters by using your phone’s keypad.

54 Section 6 Storing a Number in the Phone’ s Memor y The default for saving phon e numbers to your phonebook is your phone’s memory . Y ou can al so save it to your SIM card or you ca n set your default so that whenev er a new phonebook entry is created, you will be pr ompted to choose between Phone or SIM card .

58 Section 6 Finding a Phonebook Entry Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in your SIM card and phone’s memories. They are physically separate but ar e used as a single entity , called Phonebook. Depending on your particular SIM card, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM car d can stor e may diffe r .
Section 6: Understand ing Y our Phonebook 59 Finding a Phonebook Entry Section 6 • Call : places the call to the select ed phone number . • Assign speed dial : allows you to assign a speed dial key number to the select ed Phonebook entry . • Delete : allows you to delete th e selected name and number from your Phonebook or delete all numbers.

Dialing a Number from Phonebook Once you have stored phon e numbers in the Phonebook, you can dial them easil y and quickly by using the loc ation numbers that were assigned to them in the Phonebook.

Deleting all of the Phonebook Entries Y ou can delete all your entries fr om your phone’s memory , your SIM car d, FDN, or All.

While reading a message, you can choose dif fer ent options by pressing the Options soft key . Outbox This message box stores messages that you have attempted to send but have not actually been sent yet.

T emplates Besides entering me ssage text using the keypad keys, you can speed message com position by including copies of stored te xt (T emplates) in your message.
90 Section 7 V oice Mail This menu provides you with a way of accessing your voice mailbox, if pr ovided by your network. 1. In Idle mode, pr ess the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Using the Navigation ke ys, scroll to the Messages icon . Press the Select soft key or the key to enter the menu.
Section 7: Messages 91 Settings Section 7 1. T o select a message box to clear , press the Up or Down Naviga tion key . T o delete all of your messag es, select the All option. 2. T o place or remove a chec k mark, press the key . 3. Press the Delete soft key to delete the marked objects.
92 Section 7 Picture message The following options are used to set S end and Receive settings for Picture messages. Send Settings • Delivery report : when this option is enabled, the network informs you whether or not y our message has been del ivered.
Section 7: Messages 93 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) Section 7 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) This network service allows you to r eceive text messages on various topics, such as the weather or traffic. Please contact y our service provider for further details.

Section 8 96 Time & Date Settings This menu allows you to chan ge the current time and date displayed. The following options ar e available: • Set time: allows you to change the ho ur and minute. • AM/PM: allows you to set either AM or PM. • Time format: allows you to select whether your time is displayed in 12 hour or 24 hour format.

Note: Automatic updates of time and date do not change th e time you have set for alarm set tings or calendar memos.
