ABOUT THIS BOOK Y our iDCS k eyset is the most visible part of your telephone system. No matter what model keyset you are using telephone calls are handled the same wa y . The 28D and 18D keysets have additional con veniences that ar e not available t o 8D keyset users.
3 Y our outside calls will light green on your keyset and red on other keysets. Y ou never lose sight of your calls while they ar e on hold. They stay right where you put them and are identified with a green flashing light. Some simple rules to remember: • Any steady LED indicat es the line or feature is in use.

14 PROGRAMMABLE KEYS WITH RED LIGHTS Used to call stations directly , to indicate busy conditions of other stations, for One T ouch dialing and many other system features .
11 ASSEMBLING Y OUR KEY SET • Place the keyset face down on a flat surface. • Remove the base pedestal by placing y our thumbs over the attachment clips and press outward while simultaneously pressing down on the keyset body with your fingertips. • Plug the handset cord into the jack marked with the symbol.

RECALL DIAL T ONE Press the NEW button t o disconnect your existing call, wait for dial tone and then make a new call on the same line. NO TE: If this button does not appear on your keyset, the FLASH key may be pro- grammed to recall dial tone . SENDING A FLASH While on an outside call, press the FLASH key to send a flash to the telephone company .
BUSY ST A TION CALLBA CK When you call another station and receiv e a busy signal: • Press the CBK key , if programmed, or dial 44 . • When the busy station becomes free , your keyset will ring. • Lift the handset or press ANS/RLS to call the now idle station.
19 CALL PROCESSING SY STEM HOLD • When you are c onnected to any call, press HOLD . The call will flash gr een at your keyset. If this call appears on a line key at other keysets, it will flash red at those keysets. • T o take the caller off hold, press that key and the green flashing light will go steady green again.
first station to hang up , simply press another DSS button. OR Press the CALL button or C.O . line key to return to the outside party and begin the transfer proc ess again. When you are transf erring a call to a keyset set for Voice Announc e or Auto Answer , the transferred call will always ring .
23 FORW ARDING C ALLS Y ou may forward your calls to another station, group of stations or an ex ternal telephone number . P rogram a destination for the type of forwarding you want as detailed below . If you have FWD ALL , FWD BUSY and FWD NO ANSWER keys , press one to turn that forward feature on.
• Dial 0 to cancel current condition OR Dial 1-5 to select for ward type OR Press UP or DOWN to select for ward type. Press the right soft key to mov e the cursor .
27 DIALING FEA TURES SPEED DIALING Y ou can dial a preprogrammed t elephone number stored in the system-wide speed dial list of numbers 500–999 or from your personal list of numbers 00–49. Y ou system may be set f or 950 system wide numbers. If so the system speed dial access codes are 050~999 and the station speed dial codes ar e 000~049.
MANU AL RETRY WITH REDIAL While you are on an outside call listening t o a busy signal and you want to redial the same number dialed. • Press the REDIAL ke y . This will hang up your existing call and manually redial the same number dialed . Y ou can repeat this operation f or a limited number of attempts.
31 P A GING AND MESSA GING MAKING AN INTERNAL P A GE T o make an announcement through the keyset speakers in the idle condition: • Lift the handset. • Press the PAG E k ey or dial 55 . • Dial the desired zone number 0, 1 , 2 , 3 or 4 . • After the attention tone , mak e your announcement.
T o retrie ve an automatically park ed call: • Dial 10 plus the number that was announced. If you hav e a P AGPK key , press it and dial the number that was announced . If you hav e a P ARK key , press it and dial the announced orbit number . • Y ou will be connected to the parked call.
35 C ONVENIENCE FEA TURES DO NO T DISTURB Use this feature when y ou want to block calls to your keyset. • While on-hook, press the DND key or dial 401 . The DND key lights steady red to remind you of this mode . • T o cancel DND , press the DND key again or dial 400 .
ANSWERING THE DOOR PHONE When you are progr ammed to receive calls fr om a door phone: • Y ou will receive thr ee shor t rings repeated . • Lift the handset or press ANS/RLS key . Y ou are connec ted to the door phone . • If an electric door lock release is installed, dial 13 to unlock the door .
MANU AL SIGNALLING Use this feature when y ou want to send a brief 500ms ring burst to another sta- tion, regardless of the status of your phone (on-hook, off-hook, handsfree, DND , or ringing). T o send a signal to another station: • Press the Manual Signalling ( MS ) key .
41 CUST OMIZING Y OUR KEY SET AME P ASSW ORD This feature allo ws people using the AME feature to enable passw ord protection. This will prevent unauthoriz ed people from listening to your messages being left. The passcode is the same as your station passc ode.
43 Y our keyset may be equipped with a Headset mode key . I f it is so equipped press- ing this key while the light is out will cause the keyset to enter headset mode and the light will illuminate to indicate this. Pressing the key while the light is lit will cause the keyset to return to handset mode and the light will go out.
45 DISPLA Y FEA TURES INTERA CTIVE DISPLA Y KEY S The three keys below the display ar e substitutes for dedicated f eature keys and ac- cess codes. Pr essing one of these keys has the same effect as pressing a program- mable key . These keys are called soft k eys as their functions are not fixed .
CALL PROGRESS DISPL A Y S During everyday call handling , your keyset display will provide inf ormation that is helpful and in some cases inv aluable. Displays like [CALL FROM 203], [ TRANSFER T O 202.
DIAL 8 T U V Q 8 DIAL 9 W X Y Z 9 DIAL := [ ] NO TES: 1. When the character you want appears on the same dial pad key as the previ- ous character , press UP t o move the cursor one space to the right. 2. Other symbols are available f or DIAL #.
51 TEXT MESSA GING This feature allo ws two digital keyset users to respond to each other with pr epro- grammed text messages. A fter receiving an Off Hook V oice Announcement or Station Camp-On, you may respond with a text message while continuing to talk and listen to your outside party .
53 CALLER ID WHA T IS C ALLER ID? Caller ID is the name given to the t elephone company-pro vided feature that de- livers the telephone number and sometimes the name of the person calling y our phone.
VIEWING THE NEXT C ALLER ID CALL In the event that you ha ve a call waiting or a camped-on call at your keyset, you can press the NEXT key to display the Caller ID inf ormation associated with the call in queue at your keyset. Either the CID name or CID number will show in the display depending on your Name/Number selection.

59 SVMi E-S eries This section describes how to setup and use the various f eatures av ailable to a Subscriber . A Subscriber is a person that has been authorized access to the v ari- ous features and services available in the SVMi E-Series.

GET TING ST ARTED Using your new SVMi E-Series Subscriber Ser vices is as simple as following a f ew simple spoken instructions. First time users should read this section as a tutorial. Y ou should start with the following steps: • Access y our Subscriber Ser vices Menu - Y ou already know how to do this.
99 Change playback speed of the recor ding. There are tw o levels of speed during playback. Dialing this code will toggle between the two speeds . 0 Play options. Pressing this key will pla y all the menu options available t o you from this point. 00 Hear the time and date, and sender's information of the message you just heard .
67 Note: ALL Access Manager options MUST be individually allowed by the Syst em Administrator f or each Subscriber . They ar e: 1 Follo w Me Allows the subscriber to enter an alternat e location and set how long the new destination (Designated Location) will be active.

Setting Up Message Alert: ■ F rom the Subscriber Ser vices Menu press [6] for Mailbox A dministration. ■ Press [1] for Message Alert. ■ There are 4 options a vailable to y ou: Press [1] to toggle message alert on and off. Press [2] to set the schedule when you w ould like to be notified.
73 # PERSONAL SERVICES The P ersonal Administration Menu is used to set your passw ord and record y our name. Many of these features must be allo wed by the Syst em Administrator . 1 W ork load Management Allows you to acc ess to all reminders, both Active and Pending .
Note: Remember if you k now what digits to press , you can enter them at any time you do not hav e to wait to be prompted . This feature can be t oggled on/off at anytime. Also if it is off you will be prompted within each subscriber menu to press zero f or more options.
SHORT CUTS Calling Calling a station that is busy or does not answer y ou can press [#] to immediately send the call to the called parties mailbox. Call Div ert to V oicemail While receiving an incoming (ringing) call, dial [ ] to immediately send the caller to your personal v oicemail box.
