8 9 WARNING: T o prevent accidental starting that could cause serious personal injury , always disconnect the engine spark plug wire fr om the spark plug when assembling parts. POSITIONING THE HANDLEBAR See Figure 2. n Loosen the two handlebar knobs. n Unfold the handlebar into operating position.

12 13 pressure on the handlebar for more shallow cultivating. If the machine stays and digs in one spot, try rocking the unit from side to side to start it moving forwar d again. If the soil is very hard, water a few days befor e cultivating. Avoid working the soil when soggy or wet.
14 15 ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: T o prevent accidental starting that could cause serious personal injury , always disconnect the spark plug wire when making adjustments. ADJUSTING WHEEL POSITION See Figures 15 - 17. The wheel position of the unit is adjustable.
14 15 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing, use only identical Ryobi replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust.
16 17 MAINTENANCE SP ARK ARRESTOR The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor scr een inside muffler body . After extended use the screen can become dirty and may need to have the muf fler replaced by an au- thorized servicing dealer . WARNING: T o avoid a fire hazar d, never run the cultiv ator withou t the spark arrestor in place.
16 17 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM CAUSE REMEDY Engine fails to start. Engine switch is in the off position. No fuel in tank. Spark plug shorted or fouled. Spark plug is broken (cracked porcelain or electr odes broken). Ignition lead wire shorted, br oken, or disconnected from spark plug.
