2 About the Workshop Booklets Roland’ s SonicCell is designed for modern musicians. Using USB, It adds a huge set of sounds to your digital audio workstation (or “D A W ”) without adding to your comput er ’ s workload.
3 Window s asks you to relaunch SONAR for your new settings to take effect. Click OK , quit SONAR, and then relaunch the progr am. 3 After SONAR has restarted, close the Quick Star t window and return 4 to Audio.
4 Setting Up SONAR to Use the SonicCell Editor In SONAR you’ll find the Cakewalk Plug-In Manager with which you register the SonicCell Editor as a plug-in for use with SONAR. Here ’ s how : Fr om SONAR’ s T ools menu, select 1 Cakewalk Plug-in M anager .
5 Creating a SonicCell Editor T r ack Y ou’ll need to do this first so y ou have an easy wa y to select patches for your S onicCell synth tracks. Select an unused audio track in your project, 1 or add a new one. 2 Click the track’ s Restore Strip Size button to display its settings.
6 Selecting a P atch for a P art Y ou choose each patch you w ant to use in SONAR by selecting it for the part that a SONAR MIDI track is configured to play. Here ’ s how : Click the desired par t’ s number in the P ARTS area of the Editor 1 window .
7 If you haven’t yet selected a patch on SonicCell to play from this track, use the SonicCell Editor to assign the desired patch to the part you want to use.
8 T urn Off Software Monitoring 1 If the track ’ s channel strip isn’ t visible, click the track in the Track window . Click the channel’ s I nput Echo button so 2 it’ s not lit.
