5 CONNECTING TO YOUR RECEIVER/AMPLIFIER 1. Using one of the supplied audio cables, connect the cassette deck’ s L and R LINE OUTPUT jacks to the receiver/amplifier’ s left and right tape input jacks. 2. Using the other audio cable, connect the cassette deck’ s LINE INPUT jacks to the receiver/amplifier’ s tape output jacks.
6 LO ADING AND PLA YING A CASSETTE TAPE BASIC OPERA TION Loading a Cassette T ape 1. Use your finger or a pencil to turn the cassette’ shub and take up any tape slack. Note: A void touching the tape. Fingerprints attract dirt. 2. Pr ess the appr opriate EJECT ( 0 ) button (Deck1 or Deck 2) to open the cassette compartment door .
7 BASIC OPERA TION DOLBY NOISE REDUCTION (NR) Dolby NR systems reduce tape hiss and backgr ound noise. When recording, the systems listen for places wher e you might later hear hiss.
8 SPECIAL FEA TURES FAST -FORW ARD/REWIND T o rapidly advance or rewind the tape, press ¡ or 1 . T o stop the tape, press STOP ( 7 ). When the tape reaches the end, the cassette deck automatically stops. PA USE T o temporarily stop Deck 2 during playback or recording, press P AUSE ( 8 ).
9 SPECIAL FEA TURES USING RELA Y PLA Y Y ou can load two cassette tapes to play one after the other . Notes: • The cassettes you load should have the same Dolby NR type. • Y ou can start relay play from either Deck 1 or Deck 2. • Y ou can replace the tape in the idle deck during relay play .
10 SPECIAL FEA TURES RECORDING AND DUBBING Y ou can record fr om any component connected to the receiver/amplifier or dub (copy) cassette tapes. Notes: • T ape quality greatly affects the quality of the recor ding. Y our cassette deck can play T ype I, T ype II, and T ype IV tape.
11 SPECIAL FEA TURES Recording Blank Spaces Between Selections Some cassette decks search for the blank spaces between selections so you can quickly locate specific selections. If the original program does not have blank spaces, you can add them when you make a new recor ding.
12 CD-Deck Synchro Recor ding If your CD player has a compatible CD Synchr o function, you can automatically recor d your CDs. Connect the CD player’ s and cassette deck’ s CD SYNCHRO jacks as described in “Connecting the CD-Deck Synchr o Control Cable.
13 RESTORING TAPE TENSION AND SOUND QUALITY After you play a cassette tape several times, the tape might become tightly wound on the reels. This can cause playback sound quality to deteriorate. T o restore the sound quality , fast-for ward the tape fr om the beginning to the end of one side, then completely rewind it.

15 Cause • The power cor d is unplugged. • The component to which the power cord is attached is turned of f. • The deck is not stopped. • The cassette is not pr operly loaded. • The tape is at the end of that side. • The tape has too much slack.
16 TROUBLE SHOO TING Symptom High-frequency sounds ar e emphasized. The sounds fr om previous recor dings are still on the tape with new recor dings. The sound is distorted. There is too much noise. ASMS does not operate pr operly . The system remote contr ol does not work.
