3 Introduction ˆ Intr oduc tion Your Radio Shack Col or FX2 Spade s game c om bines the int ens ity of a b idd ing card gam e with th e conveni ence of a hand-hel d game. The gam e has three levels of difficu lty, which is perfect for both begin ner and adv anced play ers.
4 Preparation ˆ Prepar ation INSTALLING BATTERIES Your game req uire s four AA bat teri es (not supp lied) for p ower. For the best per- formanc e and l ongest l ife, we recom- mend R adioShac k alkal ine batteri es. Cautions: • Use only fresh batte ries of the required size and recomme nded type.
5 Preparation 1. Use a Phi llips screwd river to remove the battery compartm ent cover’ s screw, th en lift the cover off . 2. Place th e batteries in the co mpart- ment as i ndica ted by the pol arity symbols (+ and –) m arked insid e. 3. Repla ce the cov er and secu re it with its sc r ew .

7 Preparation Play yo ur turn whe n the game prompts you. The fir st player opens the hand wi th a high c ard to at tempt to win the t rick. Eac h player i n turn must pla y a card in the lead suit , if they have one .
8 Preparation Each sui t is ordered lowest to hig hest, from the 2 to the Ace. BIDDING AND SCORING After all of the 13 tricks in a han d are played out, the game compar es the num- ber of tric ks each t eam has w on with how much t hey had bid . The high er you bi d the more you can win (or lose).
9 Preparation For ex ample: A team bids 5 and wi ns 4 tric ks: –5 × 10 = –5 0. That team loses 50 points from their s core. Blind Bidding You can try to guess how many trick s your tea m can w in befo re dealin g the hand ( bid blind ). The game p rompts yo u to selec t this o ption when y ou are 10 0 points behind the compute r play ers.
10 Preparation • The pe nalty fo r not w inning the amou nt of tri cks bid bli nd is twic e as much as a normal bid: (5 × –2) × 10 = –100. Underbidding/ Sandbags If you bid four trick s but win se ven tric ks, your sc ore is only 43 (as opp osed to a possib le 70).
11 Preparation Big Moe and Little Moe If a team t akes the fi rst six tri cks in a hand, the y get an extr a 50 points added to their s core ( Little Mo e ). If they tak e the first eigh t tricks in a hand , they get an ex- tra 100 poin ts added to the ir score ( Big Moe ).
12 Preparation T URNING THE GAME ON/ OFF To tur n on the game, press ON/OFF . The game a uto mat ic all y turn s o ff afte r ab out 4 minutes if you do not pres s any k eys, to conserve battery p ower. To tur n the game off s ooner, pres s ON/OFF . The game s tores the current game sta tus and score i n memory.
