4 PREP ARA TION SUPPLIED HARDW ARE Your amplifier comes with the following items. Be sure you locate everything shown before you store or dispose of t he pac king m aterials. 6 BEFORE YOU MAKE THE CONNECTIO NS The suppl i ed connec t i on cables i n- cl ude al l the le ad wir es you need to conn ect the ampli f i er to gr ound , pow er , and your e xist ing a utos ound sy s tem. Important: • Do n ot cut these wires. If you c ut any wire, you canno t obtain a refund or exchange o n this prod- uct.
7 Follow these steps to c on nec t the am - plifier to ground, switched power, and primary pow er. 1. If you have not done s o already , disconnect the cable from your vehicle’s negative ( –) ba ttery ter- min a l. 2. Use a screwdriver t o connect the spade end of the supplied black ground wire to the am pl ifier’s GND (ground) terminal.
8 5. Connect the blue/white wire’s other end to your autosound sys- tem’s s witched power lead using one of the supplied twis t-on termi- nal connectors. This connection turns on the amplifier when y ou turn on the autosound system, an d turns off the amplifier when you turn off the autosound system.
9 CONNECTING INP UTS LOW-LEVE L INPUTS You can co nnect you r autosoun d system’ s low-leve l line out jacks to the amp lifi- er ’s lo w- le v e l l i ne in j a c k s . If yo ur auto sound syst em does not have low-level l ine out jacks, see “H igh Level (Speaker W ire) Inputs” on Page 11 to conne ct your am plifier.

14 CONNECTING SPEAKE RS You can connec t t w o or four speakers to the am plifier and your aut osound syste m . Pre p arin g the Spe aker Wire s Cautio n: You must co nnect a sepa- rate wire t o each spe aker terminal as described in the following procedures.
15 Co nnectin g the Speake r s to t he A mplifier 1. Use a screwdriver to con nect the front left speaker ’ s positive (+) wire to the am plifie r ’s SPEAKERS FL (+) t erminal. 2. Use a screwdriver to connect the front left speaker ’s negative (–) wi r e to the am plifie r ’s SPEAKERS FL (–) t erminal.
16 COMPL ETING T HE INST ALLA TION TESTI NG T HE CONNECTIO NS Bef ore you contin ue, make sure you have securely mad e all connect ions. Then reconn ect the cabl e to the vehi - cle’ s negative (– ) battery terminal. Set LEVEL (MIN/MAX) on both e nds of the ampli fier to its m id pos ition (see “Adjusting the A udio Level” on Page 18).

19 TRO UBLESHOOTI NG We do not expect you t o have a ny problems with y our Optimu s XL-150 High P ower 4-Channel Car Amplifier, but if you have a problem, t his chart might h elp. If not, take the amplifier to your local RadioShack store for assistance.

21 The am plifier m ight be receiving too much power from your au to- sound system . Reduce your autosound system’s ou tput power (if possible), or reduce the auto so und syst e m’ s volu me.

23 REPLACING A FU SE If the amplifier does not operate, you might need t o replace th e red power cable’s 25-amp SFE -type fuse or t he 25-amp blade-ty pe fuse on t he amplifi- er’s bac k panel. Check both fuses. Imp o rt an t: Le t the am plifier cool down and s ee if it starts a gain befo r e you assume a fus e needs to be re- placed.
