5 PREP ARATION IN S TALLING BATT ERIES Your telephone uses two AAA ba tterie s (not suppl ied) f or power to r etain the num ber s yo u st or e in me mor y. For t he best performan ce and longest life, we recomm end alkaline batteri es, such as Cat. No.
6 To prevent the loss of stored numbers when the batteries are remo ved, replace the ba tteries within 5 m inutes. Set NORM/STORE BA TT TEST back to NORM . SELECTING A L OCATION You can p l ace the pho ne on a desk top or table, or mount it on a teleph one wall plate or directly on the wall.
7 1. Press in on the s ide of the bracket neares t t he DESK label and lift t he bracket. Rotate the brack e t 180 ° and insert it into the WA L L sl o ts, then push it upward to secure it.

9 SETTI NG THE DIALING MOD E Set MODE on the back of the ba se for the type of service y ou have (t one or pulse). If you are not sure which type you have, d o this test. 1. Set MODE to TON E . 2. Lift the hands et and listen for a dial tone. 3. Press any number other than 0 .

11 Notes: • The redial memory holds up t o 32 digits in the pulse mode and 31 digits i n the t one mode. This means you can redial long- distance as well as local numbers.
12 MEMORY DIALI NG You can store up to 20 num bers in memory (15 digits e ach in the tone mode, 16 in the pulse mode), then dial a stored number by pressing a mem ory button. Note: E ntering a paus e counts a s one digit in m emory. Storin g a Number in Memory Note: Leave the h andset i n its cradle when s toring a num ber.
13 Notes: • I f the telepho ne rings while you are storing numbers, you can an swer the cal l by lifting th e hands et or pressing SPEAKER . If y ou answer a call before pressing the memory button for the number you were stor- ing, you must start again f rom Step 3 after the phone call.
