6 PREPARATION BEFORE Y OU BEGIN Before y ou insta ll your CD c hanger’ s compo nents, r ead all the in structi ons in this owner’s manual. Yo u should be ab le to answ er all of these questions ab.
7 For the CD Changer You can mount th e CD chan ger hor izon- tally or vertic ally in your ve hicle’s trunk, on the floo rboard, or under a seat. Caution: Do not mount the CD changer upside d own. Notes: • The CD c hanger ’s mounti ng area must be a t least 13 inch es (33 cm ) deep.
8 For the CD Changer Controller For ease o f use, you can mount t he sup- plied C D changer contr oller on the da sh- board us ing the su pplie d hook-a nd-loop fastening tape.
9 Follow these ste ps to inst all batte ries. 1. Slide the battery co mpart ment cove r in the dir ection of the arrow to remove i t. 2. Place the batteries in th e compa rt- ment as indi cated by the pol arity symbol s (+ an d –) marke d inside . 3.
10 INSTALLA TION Before you mount the CD chan ger and its com ponents, te st it by t emporar ily making a ll the requi red connec tions. Cautions: • For added safety and to protect your CD chang er and sound sy stem, dis- conne ct the cable from yo ur vehicle battery’s negativ e (–) termin al before y ou begin.
11 3. Connect t he Audio Adapter ’s black ground wire to a chassis grou nd, such as a met al sc r ew a ttac he d t o a metal p art of the v ehicle’ s f rame.
12 CONNECTING THE CD CHANGER 1. Dis connec t the cable f rom you r vehicl e battery’s negativ e (–) termi - nal. 2. Connect the CD cha nger to the Audio Adapter by inse rting the plug on one end of the CD change r cable into the 8- pin CD CHANGER jack on the Audio Ad apter .
13 T ESTING THE CONNECTIONS Make sure al l conne ctions are secure before c ontinuin g with the ins tallation. Then recon nect the cable to the v ehicle battery’s negative (– ) terminal . Verify that y ou connec ted the CD ch ang- er corre ctly by t urning on the change r and play in g a CD.
14 If you are mou nting the CD c hanger vertic ally , use a scr ewdriver to remo ve th e screw s on bo th si des o f the CD ch anger fr om H and turn SPRING A TT ACHMENT H/V to V on both sid es, then replace th e screws into V .
15 Mounting the CD Changer Controller The su pplied h ook-and -loop f astener lets you se cure ly mou nt th e CD cha nge r control ler on the das hboard a nd easil y remove it when yo u need it . Select a mounti ng locat ion, then f ollow these ste ps to sec ure the controller .
16 OPERATION LOADING AND UNLOADING THE CD MAGAZINE You can load a s many as t en CDs in the supplie d CD mag azine. 1. Hol d the CD magazin e so the clea r CD window faces you and the high- est CD number ( 10 ) is at the top of the CD windo w . 2. Sli de all o f the di sc lever s on the back e dge of the CD m agazine fully in.
17 2. Hold the CD magazine with the highest CD number ( 10 ) on to p with the arrow on the top of th e CD mag - azine poi nting toward th e CD chang er . 3. G ently push the CD m agazine i nto the CD changer until it clicks . Y ou can see the index lab el through the openin g.
18 To turn on the CD c hanger and pla y a CD, press (Play/Pa use) on either the infrared remote co ntrol or the CD changer controller . The CD starts to play from Track 1 of the C D in the lo west- numbered slot. The displa y sho ws DISC and the track n umber.
19 Intro Scan You can set the CD chang er to play the first 10 sec onds of each tr ack on the c ur- rent CD, to help you find the t rack you want to hear . Press SCAN to begin the scan. The dis- play s hows SCN and the track number scannin g. To stop sc anning and resume to pl ay- back, pre ss SCAN again.
20 RESETTING THE AUDIO ADAPTER If the CD chang er display s an error code ( Err 1 – Err 10 ), locks up , or does not work pro perly, press the hole on the bot- tom of the Audi o Adapter m arked RESET with a pointed ob ject, su ch as a str aight- ened paper clip, for 1 or 2 sec onds.
21 T ROUBLESHOOTING If your CD chan ger is not wor king as it should , these sugges tions mi ght help yo u elimina te the problem. If the CD cha nger still does not operat e properly , take it to your local RadioS hack sto re for assi stanc e.
22 Sound from CD skips . CD is d ir ty or def ectiv e. Clean the CD and try it a gain or try another CD (see “CD Ca re Tips” on P age 24). H/V se t inc orre ctl y . Check H/V on both sides of CD changer and reset if neces sar y (see “Mo unting the CD Chan ger” on P ag e 13) .

24 THE FCC W ANTS Y OU T O KNOW Your CD ch anger mig ht cause TV or ra- dio inter ference even when it is oper at- ing prop erly. T o dete rmine whether your CD changer is causin g the interference, turn off your CD changer . If the interfer- ence goes away, yo ur CD chan ger is causing it.
25 REPLACING A FUSE If the CD changer or its component s do not ope rate, you m ight need t o replac e the fuse from one or mor e of the powe r wires with on e of the s upplied fu ses. Chec k all fuse s. The fuse for the yello w power wire on the CD change r must be 5.
