3 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Congratulations for selecting the new PROFORM ® 640 S elliptical crosstrainer . The PROFORM ® 640 S is an incredibly smooth exerciser that moves your feet in a natural elliptical path, minimising the impact on your knees and ankles.
4 ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical crosstrainer in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included allen wrenches, assembly requires a phillips screwdriver , an adjustable spanner , and a rubber mallet .
5 1. Identify the Front Stabiliser (3), which has Wheels (32) attached to it. Whilst another person lifts the front of the Frame (1) slightly , attach the Front Stabiliser to the Frame with two M10 x 1 12mm Carriage Bolts (34) and two M10 Nylon Locknuts (29).
6 8. Identify the Left Pedal (13). Attach the Left Pedal to the Left Pedal Arm (14) with three M4 x 19mm Flange Screws (17) as shown. Note: The Left Pedal can be attached in any of three positions (see HOW T O ADJUST THE PEDALS on page 8). Attach the Right Pedal (not shown) in the same way .
7 10. Make sure that all parts of the elliptical crosstrainer are properly tightened. Note: Some hardware may be left over after assembly is completed. T o protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the elliptical crosstrainer . 9 9 Grease 38 14 27 38 63 29 10 9.
8 HOW T O USE THE ELLIPTICAL CROSSTRAINER HOW TO ADJUST THE PEDALS The motion of the pedals is deter- mined by their position on the pedal arms; there are three differ- ent positions. T o adjust the pedals, first remove the three screws from each pedal.
9 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The easy-to-use console offers a selection of features designed to help you get the most from your workouts. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the resistance of the elliptical crosstrainer can be adjusted with a touch of a button.
10 T urn on the console. Note: The console requires four “D” batteries (not included). If you have not installed batteries, refer to step 4 on page 5 and install batteries. T o turn on the console, press the On/Reset button or begin pedaling. Select the manual mode.
11 T urn on the console. Refer to step 1 on page 10. Select one of the four personal trainer programs. Each time the console is turned on, the manual mode will be selected. T o select a per- sonal trainer program, press the Program button repeatedly until a “P 1,” “P 2,” “P 3,” or “P 4” appears in the display .
12 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the elliptical crosstrainer regularly . Replace any worn parts immedi- ately . T o clean the elliptical crosstrainer , use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild dish soap. Important: T o avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
13 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
