11 Always tap t he trimmer head on a grassy area. T apping on surf aces suc h as c oncrete or asphal t can caus e exces sive wear t o the trimmer head. If t he li ne i s worn down to 2 in. (5 cm) or les s, more than one tap will be required to obtain the mos t efficient line lengt h.
