Figure 3-6 shows the Setup page. The menu is brok en into two sections: the W AN configur ation and the LAN configur ation.

PPPoA Connection Setup PPP oA is defined in the Internet standard RFC 2364. It is a method of encapsulating PPP pack ets ov er A TM cells which are carr ied ov er the DSL line.

The LAN Configuration scr een appears. Enable/Disable DHCP By def ault, y our CPE has DHCP server (LAN side) disab led.

Th e End IP Address is the last ad dress the DHCP ser v er can issue. The ending address cannot e xceed a subnet limit of 254.

F or basic router fu nctionality , you do not need to utilize these adv anced feat ures . The f eatures help with routing, security , por t configuration, and plug and play capability .

The SNMP feature gen er ates a trap wh ene ver the IP ad dress of the router changes (e xcept through the T roubleshooting Ma nagement Link).

T o set QoS f or a connection: Procedur e 1. F rom the Home screen, click on Advanced and under Adv anced, select IP QoS.

Under Adv anced, select P or t F orwarding. 3. Select the computer hosting the service and add the corresponding fire wall rul e .

3. Using the Web Interface 3-28 April 2005 6382-A2-GB20-00 LAN Clients T o add a LAN client, or reser v e an IP address f or a DHCP clien t: Procedur e 1. F rom the Home screen, click on Advanced. 2. Under Advanced, select LAN Clients . If DHCP is us ed, all DHCP clients are automatically assigned.

When IGMP Snooping is en abled, t he router analyz es Internet Group Management Proto col (IGMP) pac ke ts to lear n multicast g roup address and port associations.

If RIP v1 is se lected, routing data will be sent in RIP v1 f or mat. If RIP v2 is selected, rout ing data will be sent in RIP v2 format using subnet broadcas ting.

Access control is enab led on a W AN conn ection only if the firewall is enab led globally (see Fire wall/NA T Ser vices on page 3-21) and ena bled on that W AN connection.
