It is also ref erred to as a broadband connection. The re quirements f or the W AN connection depend on your In ternet Ser vice P rovider (ISP).

PPPoA Connection Setup PPP oA is defined in the Internet standard RFC 2364. It is a method of encapsulating PPP pack ets ov er A TM cells w hich are carried over the DSL line .

When IGMP Snooping is en abled, the r outer analyzes In ter net Group Management Proto col (IGMP) pac kets to learn multicast group address and port associations.

If RIP v1 is se lected, routing data will be sent in RIP v1 f or mat. If RIP v2 is selec ted, rout ing data will be sent in RIP v2 format using subnet broadcas ting.

Access control is enab led on a W AN conn ection only if the firewall is enab led globally (see Firewa ll/NA T Ser vices on page 3-17) and ena bled on tha t W AN connection.
