28 July 2004 6212- A2-GB20-20 Chapter 3 Login Via the Web Browser This section describes how to manage the router via a web browser from the remote end. Y ou can use a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Ex plorer , or Netscape Navigator . It is best to set your display resolution to 1024 x 768.

30 July 2004 6212- A2-GB20-20 Chapter 4 Basic Configuration From the Basic menu bar you can change passwords, configure the W AN/LAN interfaces, set up routing, save settings, reboot the router , and retrieve the factor y default settings. 4.1 Software Version Information Click on Versi on Info rmat ion from the Basic menu bar .

Click on Appl y to submit the settings. If you change the password, make sure you keep a record of it in a safe place, as you will require it next t ime you log in.

42 July 2004 6212- A2-GB20-20 Chapter 5 Advanced Configuration 5.1 ADSL Mode There are four ADSL modes: MUL TI, T1.413, G. DMT , and G.LITE. The default ADSL mode i s MUL TI. MUL TI mode enables the device to auto matically adjust its mode to match the remote central office DSLAM.
6212-A2-G B20-20 July 2004 43 5.2 VLAN T o configure the VLAN f unction, click on VLAN f r o m t h e A d v a n c e d m e n u b a r . V L A N i s d i s a b l e d by factory default . T o enable it, clic k on En able, then click on the Set button. Th en you can proceed to create the VLAN groups.
44 July 2004 6212- A2-GB20-20 5.3.1 Enable DHCP STEP 1: Click on DHCP from the menu bar . There is a defa ult DHCP entry on the screen. The default settings are as follows: STEP 2: T o enable the DHCP entry , choose the entry and cl ick on the Start button.

This configures the interface that will pro vide the DHCP function. By factory default, the e ntry for interface eth0 i s defined with the gatew ay address 192.
46 July 2004 6212- A2-GB20-20 5.3.2 Disable the DHCP STEP 1: Click on DHCP from the menu bar . STEP 2: Choose a DHCP entry , then click on Delete . 5.4 DHCP Relay The DHCP pack et format is based on a BootP pa cket. As a result, DH CP uses the BootP relay agent to forward DHCP packets.

The messages ex changed enable you to access and manage objects in an active or in active (stored) Mana gement Information Base (MIB) on a parti cular router .

After f illing in the fields, click on Apply to submit the settings. 5.5.2 Modifying Traps Click on the T raps tab t o confi gure the tr aps. After selecting the parameters, click on Su bmit to apply the settings.

It has denial of service protection agains t attacks suc h as ICMP Flood, Pi ng of Death, IP spoofing, P ort Scans, Land Attack , T ear Drop At tack, IP Source R oute, and WinNuke A ttack.

6212-A2-G B20-20 July 2004 55 5.7.2 Port Range Mapping The P ort Range Mapping is used to set up the vi rtual server . A virtual server has two access ports: public and private. The public port is the open port where Internet users access the virtual server .
