Online tips anticipate questions you might have in a dialog box, pr ovide shortcuts for using the dialog box, or gi ve you other useful infor mat ion.

When a keyboard is open, you can tap the abc, 123, or Int’l boxes to open any of the other keyboar ds, includi ng the international keyboa rd. After you finish, t ap Done to close the onscr een keyboar d and place the text in t he re c ord .

When y ou lift the stylus fr om the Graf fiti writing ar ea, your handheld r ecognizes and displ ays the text character immediately . Some single Graf fiti s tr okes are porti ons of the r egular alphabet equivalents.

Using Graf fiti writing to enter da ta 27 Punctu ation marks Graf fiti writing can cr eate any punctuation symbol that you can ent er from a standar d keyboar d. All punctuat ion marks begin with a single tap on the Graf fiti writing ar ea. W ith this tap, you activate Punctuation Shift, and a dot appears to show that it is acti ve.
Chapter 3 Entering Data on Y our Handheld 28 Symbol cha racte rs All symbol c haracters begin with the symbol shif t stroke in the Graf fiti writing a re a of y our handh el d. When the Symbol Shift is ac tive, a slant ed shift symbol appears in the l ower-right corner of the scr een.
Using Graf fiti writing to enter da ta 29 Additio nal non-Eng lish charact ers Y ou can wr ite the following characte rs without any special punctuation or shifting: Y ou must write these non-English characters in the left side of the Graf fiti writing ar ea.

The ShortCut symbol appears at the i nsertion point to show that you ar e in ShortCut mode. Y our handheld includes the pr edefined Graf fiti ShortCuts shown in the fol lowing table.

Y ou can assign a n application to a category and then display a single category or all your applications.

Pr ess Up or Down on the navigator to select the next letter of the name you want to find. The list then scr olls to the fi rst entry that starts with those tw o letters.

Y ou can create entries on your handheld, or you can use Palm™ Deskt op software to cr eate entries on your computer and then transfer the entries to your handheld with your ne xt HotSync ® operation.
