3.3 F ormatting your OW C M ercury On- T he - Go Pro on a Macint osh with Mac OS X Open the Disk Utility application, which is located in /Applications/Utilities Select the device with no volumes attached to it; in this picture, that w ould be the 320.
Once you ’ve selected the OWC device, y ou will notice the above change in the Disk Utility application. Click on the “Erase” tab in this picture.
Click the erase button to conrm y ou wish to erase the disk. After a few moments , the erase command will complete and the OWC Mercury Elite - AL Pr o D ual mini volume will moun t on your desktop.
3.4 Removing the GUID P ar tition Scheme Only for XP , 2000, ME and earlier . (XP 64-BIT , Vista & Windows 7 can c ontinue to the next sec tion) ➆ T ype exit and hit enter . ➇ Close the command prompt window . Y ou may now proceed with f ormatting the drive.

➃ Your drive will appear similar to how Disk 1 does below. Notice that the space on the low er right reads as “Unallocated.” Right click in this space and choose “New Partition.” ➄ The “New P ar tition Wizard” will launch. Click “Next ” to continue .
➇ If you like, you can specify the driv e letter designation f or your new drive. Other wise, one will automatically be assigned. Click “Nex t. ” ➈ Before y ou can use the dr ive , it must be formatted . On most systems running Windows 2000 or later , it is advisable to specify the le system as NTFS.
➀➀ Once you have nished with the formatting wizard , you will see that your new drive (r epresented as “Disk E” in this case) will display a message of “F or matting . ” This should only take a couple of minutes if you chose the quick format option.
4.1 T roubleshooting Some of the most simple problems can be traced to po wer , or connectivity issues. V erify that your cables (both ends!) are properly plugged into the comput er and stor - age solution.
4.2 T ips Identifying the LED indicators on y our drive The OWC Mercury On- The -Go Pro has a cool blue LED at the fr ont of the hard drive enclosure. They will illuminate blue when powered on, and ash on driv e activity (both reading and writing).
