The connection options are differentiated by the inter face used, not by model. On the following pages you can find the connec tion option that per tains to your par ticular situation.
6 CONNECTING VIA USB Plug the primar y USB t yp e A connec tor 1 . into a USB por t on your compu ter or s elf- powered USB hub. Plug the mini-USB connec tor into the Drive' s 2.
7 CONNECTING VIA FIREWIRE For this connection, your c omputer must have an available 6-pin F ireW ire port. Plug either end of the 6-pin to 6 -pin FireWire 1 . cable into a 6 -pin F ireWire por t on your computer . Plug the other end of th e FireWire cable into 2.
8 CONNECTING VIA FIREWIRE USING A 6PIN TO 4PIN FIREWIRE CABLE AND THE USB CABLE Many laptops ar e equipped with 4-pin FireW ire ports. How ever , 4-pin Fir eWire por ts do not supply power . In this case, the Fir eWire connection will transmit the data; the USB connection will supply the power .
9 CONNECTING VIA FIREWIRE 800 For this connection, your c omputer must have an available 9-pin F ireW ire 800 port. Plug either end of the FireWire 800 cable into 1. a 9 -pin FireWire 8 00 por t on your compu ter . Plug the other end of th e FireWire cable into 2.
10 CONNECTING VIA FIREWIRE 800 USING A 9 PIN TO 4PIN FIREWIRE CABLE AND THE USB CABLE Many laptops ar e equipped with 4-pin FireW ire ports. Howev er , 4-pin FireW ire ports do not supply power . In this case, the F ireW ire connection will transmit the data; the USB connection will supply the power .
