7 Connecting Power Y ou ca n power the CD-3322 from any of t h ese power sources: • I nternal bat tery power , using ei ght D batteries and t w o AA batteries (not supplied — see “ Using Bat- te.
8 • Repl a c e t he AA batteries ab out every 6 months, or more o ften if power is frequently discon nect ed or interrupted. • T o easily remov e the batteries, pull up on t h e attached ribbon. Caution: Always dispose of old batt er- ies promptly and properly .
9 Installing Batteries in t he Rem ote Control The remote con t rol requires two A AA batteries (not s uppl i ed) for power . F or the best performance an d longes t life, we recomme nd alkaline batteries, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-555. Caution: Always use fresh batteries of the requ ired size and type.
10 Basic O perat ion Important: Af ter receiving a static elec- tric shock, the CD-3322 might loc k up and bec om e inoperable. If this ha p- pens, see “Res et ting the Sys t e m” on Page 32 for inst ructions on resetting i t.
11 Using the Remote Control to Turn P owe r O n/O ff While the m ai n power is on (the POW- ER ind i cator is o n), you can press POWER on the remote control to turn the CD-33 22 on or of f. Note: When you turn off the system us- ing the remote control, the POW E R in- dica tor sta ys o n .
12 Adj u st ing the Bal ance T o adjust the s ound balanc e between the left and righ t spea k e r s, turn BAL- ANCE on the main system toward LEF T or RI G HT .
13 Using Headphones T o listen wi thout disturbing others, you can connect a pai r of 1 / 8-i n c h plug ste- reo headphones (not supplied) to the CD-3322.
14 Radio O perat ion Listening to the Radio 1. Set FUNCTION to RA DIO. T he last selected radio band and f re- quency appear on the display . 2. Repeatedl y press B A ND to select the desired band. As you pres s it, AM or FM and the la s t select ed sta- tion in t hat band appear on t he display .
15 • T o improve reception for weak FM stations, set FM M ODE on the back of the syste m to M ONO so d isap- pears. The sound is no longer in stereo, but reception should improve. T o return to stereo sound, set F M M O DE to STE- REO again. • The AM a nt en na is built-in.

T o select a memory p osit ion, within about 5 seconds, repeat- edly press REP E A T/S CAN until the desired preset station numb er appears (or press the desire d pre- set st ation numbe r (1 to +10) on the remot e control), then press PRO GAM/ MEMOR Y to st ore y our sele c t io n in mem ory .
17 CD P lay er Ope rat ion Loading and Play ing a CD 1. Set FUNCTION to CD. The CD indicator turns on, 00:00 and TRACK 00 appear for a f ew sec- onds, t hen dISC f l as h es on the display . 2. Pr ess O PEN on top of the sys- tem . TRACK 00 appea r s on the display and the CD compartment door opens.
18 • T o display the CD’s remaining play time du r i ng pla y , press DISPLA Y M ODE. T o return t o the elapsed play time, press it a gain. 6. Adjust V OLUM E UP or D OWN (or VOLUME or on the remote control), and s elect the desi r e d E - BASS , BA LANCE, and preset equalizer set t ings.

21 Repeat Play The CD-3322 lets you continuously re- peat a single track, all tracks on a CD, or an entire pro gram med s equence of tra cks (se e “P r o gramm ed Play”). T o con t in uously repeat a single t rack , pre ss REPEA T / SCAN twi ce be fore or during play so REPEAT f las hes on t h e display .

24 CD and CD Player Care Tips Although a CD is very durabl e, you should handl e it with care. We recom - mend the following precautions. • Keep t he CD in its prot ective ca se or sleeve when you a r e not play- ing it. • Keep t he CD cl ean. Y our local RadioShack st ore sel ls a suitable CD cleaner kit .
25 Cassette Deck Operation The CD-3322’ s cas sette deck lets you play cassette tapes or record from the radio or CD play er . Note: Y ou cann ot operate the c assette deck usi ng the rem ot e control. Loading a T ape 1. T ake up any sl ack in the ca ssette tape by turning the hub with a pencil.
26 Notes: • T o bri e f ly stop the tape during playback, p ress . T he button locks down and t he t ape stops. T o resume play back, press again so the bu t ton releases. • T o conserve bat t ery pow er when powering the CD-3322 with batteries, do no t use P A USE f or an extended period of time.
27 Recording a Cassette T ape Notes: • The CD-3322’s Au t omat i c Level Control (ALC) feat ure automati- cally adjusts the recording level. The settings of VO LUME, E- BASS , BA LANCE, and the preset equalizer setting s have no effect on the recording.

Recording from the CD Player Follow these st eps to record from a CD onto a cassette ta pe. 1. Set FUNCT I ON to CD, then load the CD you want to re co rd.
29 T ape T ips Erasing a Cassette T ape T o record over a cass ett e tape, simply re c ord ov er t h e previous recordi ng. T o erase the entire cass ett e tape , sel e c t a function with no a udi o (such a s CD with no CD playing) and let the tape record t o the en d.
30 If you b reak of f a t ab and decide l ater th at you want t o record on that side of the tape, carefully cover t h at side’s tab hole wi th a piece of adhesive tape. Caution: Removing the erase-prot ect i on tape does not prevent a bul k eraser from erasing a cassette tape.

If the syst em still do es not operat e normally , take it to y our lo cal RadioShack store for assistance.
