6 PREPARA TION Warnin g : A s udd en high out put from the mixer could dam age your hea r i ng, especially if you use headp hones, and might also d ama ge the au dio d evices connected t o the mixe r’s output .
7 1. Connect the lin e-level outputs from u p to four audio sources (such as a CD player, tape deck, tuner, camc order, or VCR) t o the LINE 1 , LINE 2 , LINE 3 , a n d LINE 4 input jacks (m atching left to left, rig ht to righ t). Cautio n: Do not connect an audio source with a line-level output to th e low- leve l PHONO 1 or PHONO 2 input jacks.
8 3. Connect a m icrophon e (not sup- plied) to the m ixer . • If the microphone has an XLR plug, conn ect it to MIC on the top left corner of the front panel. • If the microphone has a 1 / 4 -inch plug, con nect it to MIC on the low- er right corne r of the back pan el.
9 CONNECTING HEADPHONES To listen in pri vacy or monitor the au- dio sour ce inputs s o you can locate an exact passage or section before mix- ing it, plug a pair o f stereo hea d- phones (not supplied) wi th a 1 / 4 -inch plug into t he PHONES jack on the mix- er’s ri ght front panel.
10 OPE R ATION 1. Set th e vol ume l evels on the out - put devices (receiver/ampl ifier and tape deck) to m inimum and turn them on. 2. Press POWER to turn on the mix- er . The red power indicator lights. 3. T urn on the input s ources you want to mix.
11 Rotate M ASTER clo ckwi se and t emp o- rarily s e t it to about the 5th marker. Note: The MASTER volu me control adjusts t he overall volu me of DJ M IC , CH1 , CH2 , and CH3 . The m ixer uses two volume u nit (VU) meters to in dicate t he total s tereo out - put signal level.
12 If you did not connect an input source to every jack or do not want to m ix ev- ery input source c on nected t o the m ix- er’s input jacks, you do n ot need to follow all the steps in this se ction. Af- ter you decide which sourc e(s) you want to pres et and m ix, use t his table to determine which steps to foll o w.
13 4. Stop playback of the selected i n- put source. 5. T o pre set the LINE 1 i np ut source, set PHONO 1 / LINE 1 to LI NE 1. Then repeat Steps 2–4. Note: If you have to readjust MAS- TER when performing Step 3, re- membe r that this af fects the level of the previously pre set in put sources.

15 MIXING THE I NPUTS You can connec t i nput sign als fr om up to s ix audio sources, select any two, then mix them so only one or both play t hrou gh your sound syst em.
16 3. Press CUE ASSIGN f or the s econd input source. 4. Set the input source selector to the input source you want to mo n- itor . 5. Start playba ck of the in put source you want to play next through your sound system . 6. I f necess a ry: • Adjust CUE LEVEL to a com fort- able li stening l evel.
17 • Do not sl ide CROSS F ADER to the center if you w ant to monitor one channel while the other is playing. Otherwise, the soun d from the channel you monitor w ill also be heard throug h your sound system. Instead, slid e CROSS F ADER to the channel you are not monitor- ing.
18 USING THE T ONE CONTROL S Your mixer has one s et of tone con- trols for t he micr ophone a nd an oth er set for channe ls 1, 2, and 3. You can tailor the high and low frequency sounds for the microphon e an d t ailor the high, low, and mid frequency sounds for channels 1, 2, and 3.
19 T ROUBLES HOOTING With proper care and h andling, your mixer should giv e you years of trouble-free service. However, if your SSM- 1250 is not working properly, follow these sugges- tions to s ee if you ca n eliminate the probl em. If yo u cannot, ta k e the mixer to your local RadioShack store for a ssistance.

21 REPLACING THE FUSE The mixer uses a fuse for protection from power s urges and short circuits. If the mixer suddenly turns off and will not turn on, check the fuse. If neces- sary, rep lace the f u se with a 0.5-amp, 250-volt, fast-acting, 1 1 / 4 × 1 / 4 inc h fu se such as Ca t.
