3 Precautions 1. Recording Copyright Unless it ’ s for personal use only , recording copyrighted material is illegal without the permission of the copyright holder . 2. A C Fuse The A C fuse inside the C-1VL is not user serviceable. If you cannot turn on the C-1VL, contact your Onkyo dealer .
4 Precautions —Continued About CDs Important notes on handling CDs • Carefully lift the disc from the disc case, making sure to hold the disc by its edges or the hole in the middle. • Y ou can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe dust and fi nger- prints off the surf ace of CDs.

8 Remote Contr oller 1 Number buttons Use these buttons to enter a track number . 2 P ause [ ] button Press to pause the playback. 3 Stop [ ] button Press to stop the playback. 4 [ / ] buttons Press and hold to fast re verse and fast forward when playing CDs.
9 Remote Controller —Continued Detach the battery cover . Insert the two R6 (size AA) batteries. Be sure to match the + and – ends of the batter- ies to the diagram inside the battery compar t- ment. Attach the battery cover . Notes: • Do not mix new batteries with old batteries.
10 Cables and Connector s • Always refer to the instructions that came with the component that you are connecting. • Do not plug in the power cord until all connections hav e been properly made. Optical Digital T erminals The optical digital terminals are provided with protec- tion caps.
11 Connections The C-1VL is equipped with three types of output terminals: A UDIO OUTPUT AN ALOG, A UDIO OUTPUT DIGI- T AL (OPTICAL), and A UDIO OUTPUT DIGIT AL (CO AXIAL). Make appropriate connections according to your audio devices such as ampli fi er and recorder .
12 T urning On the C-1VL Plug the supplied power cord into this A C INLET . • Before you plug in the C-1VL, con fi rm that all con- nections hav e been made properly . • T urning on the power may cause a momentary po wer surge, which might interfere with other electrical equipment on the same circuit, such as computers.
13 Pla ying CDs ■ T o Stop Playback Press the Stop [ ] b utton. ■ T o Pause Pla yback Press the Pause [ ] button. The Pause indicator appears. T o resume playback, press the Play [ ] button or [ ] button again.
14 Playing CDs —Continued Y ou can use the number buttons to select speci fi c tracks. Selecting T racks b y Number 1 Use the number b uttons to enter a track number . Use the [>10] button to enter track numbers abov e 10. For e xample, to enter track number 10, press [10/0].
15 Playing CDs —Continued W ith the Random function you can play tracks in ran- dom order . Note: During random playback, pressing the [ ] button will not mov e to the previous track.
16 Playing CDs —Continued W ith the Memory function you can make a custom pro- gram of your fa vorite tracks. Notes: • If you try to add more than 25 tracks to your program, the message “ FULL ” appears on the display . • If the total playing time of your program exceeds 99 minutes and 59 seconds, “ --:-- ” is displayed.
