The HJA-301 measures the amount of calories and fat burned based on a concept call Metabolic Equivalent of T ask or , MET .

6 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INFORMA TION Operate the unit only as intended. Do not use for any other purpose. Do not swing the unit by the str ap. Swinging the unit while holding the strap may cause an injury . Do not put the unit in the back pocket of your shorts or trousers.

8 SETTI NGS SETTING THE TIME , WEIGH T, HEIGHT AND S T RIDE LENGTH The unit comes with the battery installed. When you use the unit for the first time or you want to change s ettings, follow the s teps be low . For setting range details refer to “Specificati ons” on page 29.

11 ATT AC HING TH E UNI T The HJA-301 can be used in an y direction (up/down, sideways, flat) in a ba g, pocke t, at the waist or hanging from your neck on a lanyard (not included). For best accuracy during your workou ts, or while in W orkout Mode, attach the unit in the holder at your waist.
12 ATT AC HING TH E UNI T Hanging the unit from your neck. Attach a sec ure string or cord to the unit. Place the string a round your neck and hang the un it as illustrated. NOTE: Make sure the string is correctly sized to easily remove the unit from around your n e ck.
13 USIN G THE UNIT USING THE WORKOUT MODE Use the W orkout Mode to separately track pace, distance, time and calories burned and step s d uring a specific worko ut tim e. 1. Att ach the unit at your w aist (refer to p age 1 1). 2. St art a wor kout. Press for 2 seconds to start W orkout Mode.

20 USING THE MEMORY FUNCTION The unit stores your fitness achievements in memory fo r up to 7 days or 7 sessio ns for W orkout Mode. There are two ways you can view your data in memory . Refer to A. and B. below for more informatio n. NOTE: The time must be correc tly set in the uni t.

22 BATTERY REPLAC EMEN T Low battery indicator When the low battery indicator appears on the display , immediately replace the batt ery with a new CR2032 battery .
23 BATTERY REPLAC EMEN T ABOUT THE BATTERY SAV ING MODE (SLEEP MODE) After 5 minutes with no button being pressed, the display will automatically go into sleep mode and no infor mation will be displayed on the scre en. Howe ver , the unit continues to track steps, distan ce, cal ories burned, etc.
24 BATTERY REPLAC EMEN T 1. Remov e the screw on the battery cover lo cated on the back of the unit , and r emove t he ba tter y cover . Use the small screwdriver incl uded with this unit to remove the screw on the battery cover . 2. Remove t he ol d batt ery .
25 USING THE SY STEM RE SET FUNCTION Use the sy stem reset fun ction in the fo llowing cases : • When you want to reset the initial setup da ta (weight, height, clock, etc.) • When you want to delete all data T O RESET THE SETUP DA T A: 1. Press th e SET button on the back of the unit .
